Atheros WLAN AR5212 does
I can confirm this bug on a Thinkpad T42p UXGA with AR5213A WiFi card.
On shutdown it just gets stuck at the blue Kubuntu screen with the dots moving
Alt-F1 console shows black screen

Confirmed
on a Thinkpad T42p running Kubuntu 9.04 with all updates.
The Network Upgrade just stops after downloading with a non-helpful error
message.
The remedy command dpkg --configure -a does not help.
KPackageManager displays now about 480 upgradable packages and 350 blocked
packages!

I did not anything special to the Kubuntu Jaunty installation.
After the upgrade vom 8.10 to 9.04 Beta hung itself, I reformatted the boot
partition and installed Kubuntu 9.04 Beta from CD. Thereafter all Updates with
KPackageKit. No manual interference with any configuration at all.

After rebooting the upgrade from Kubuntu 8.10 to Kubuntu 9.04 Beta 1
using code update-notifier-kde -d /code
the system hangs with a purple Kubuntu screen at the end of the blue Kubuntu
progress bar. The computer is not reacting to any keyboard input,

You might be right.
For my T42p the fan activity has reduced after the recent OS updates for Hardy.
The average idle temp has gone down from 42C to 37C after the OS updates
and the fan activity has reduced to the levels experienced with Gutsy.

The T42p system is cool but the fan is blowing cold air at 3600rpm (approx.

My subjective perception is, that Hardy causes more fan activity than Gutsy.
I have experienced this on 2x Thinkpad T42p 2373-KYG with

IMHO this is a bug. And it reduces the usability of the KDE GUI.
I want to emphasize that I did not play with fancy user defined colors.
I just changed to the predefined color scheme DarkBlue, and then
a few things become unreadable. To me it's as simple as that and very
unpleasant.

Hotswapping Ultrabay devices (PATA HDD and DVD-RAM) was working perfectly
under Gutsy
and is now totally locking and freezing the computer. Only resetting with the

a) a Thinkpad T42p 2373-KYG updated online from Feisty (no errors) and
b) a Thinkpad T42p 2373-7XU fresh install from CD on a zeroed HDD

I can confirm this bug in KMail / Kontact 1.2.5 / KDE 3.5.7:
Messages get lost by clicking on them in the list and turn to zombies with
Unknown sender, No Subject, and a date of 1970-1-1.
