[Bug 1765189] [NEW] Partial User Interface freeze
Public bug reported: I have a Dell Precision 5520 and experience the following problem: After a resume from suspend, I have problems with my keyboard and touchpad: At the password screen everything is working fine, I can click on the password field and enter my password. Then when the screen is unlocked, I can move the mouse cursor, and clicks on the top menu, e.g. on the network button or the shutdown button work perfectly, but a click on an open window like a terminal or on firefox does not give focus to the window and I cannot write into the terminal. Also, shortcuts like the Windows key or Windows+tab key are not working. I can only solve this by rebooting. [Bug 1140920] Re: Libre Office does not start when I click it
I found out what the reason is: I was using Ubuntu with German language, and the month names which contain Umlauts, like Jänner and März were broken in the sense, that ls -l would write 'M' instead of 'Mär', and the libreoffice script has the following section: while [ -h "$sd_res" ] ; do cd "`dirname "$sd_res"`" sd_basename=`basename "$sd_res"` sd_res=`ls -l "$sd_basename" | sed "s/.*$sd_basename -> //g"` and the strange character in ls -l seems to break things. [Bug 860333] [NEW] Mudita does not get registered in applications
Public bug reported: Mudita24 serves to adjust the volume in ICE1712 sound cards, and is the successor of the envy24control. The program itself works fine, but one has to start it via the command line. It would be nice, if it gets registered as application in unity, so that one can find it through the unity menu. [Bug 718100] Re: Add possibility to change output device
Thanks for your feedback. Just to be sure that we are not talking about different things, the sound menu is the thing which pops up when I click on the speaker icon in the panel? >This bug report is Incomplete, however, because it's not clear that it would >involve any work being done in the sound menu. How do you >know that that >would be the best way to present the feature? I think the best place for this feature is the menu shown in post #1 because that's the place, where I as a user would expect it to be. >What alternatives did you consider? Alternatives are the pulseaudio-mixer-applet and pavucontrol. They basically do the job, but there are several reasons why I don't like them: pavucontrol has problems with long strings like "ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller Analog Multi-Channel Main Output" because it adapts the window size to the length of the string, which can cause the pavucontrol window to go over the edge of the workspace which makes it very unfriendly to use. And as you noticed yourself, the pulseaudio-mixer-applet is not the prettiest thing to. But the main reason why I think this should be included in the normal sound menu is, that it would have a nicer, native look and that users don't have to install an extra application in order to use the functionality which is already given in pulseaudio. So at the moment, if I want to be able to control the output per application I have to use e.g. pavucontrol but I still have the sound menu in the panel, which is basically useless for what I want to do. >That someone who just wants to change the volume would be subjected to >pictures of circuit boards strongly suggests that this is not >the best way to >present it! The next step is for someone to sketch out half a dozen possible >interaction methods for the feature, listing >the benefits and disadvantages >of each. I completely agree. I also don't like the way it is presented in the pulseaudio-mixer-applet. If you want, I can try to make some mock-ups. >Separately, someone would need to devise a reliable way of generating >human-readable names for streams. Displaying anything >remotely like "ICE1712 >[Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller Analog Multi-Channel Main Output" in >any prominent place would be >crack. I also agree completely. This is also not solved in pavucontrol or the pulseaudio-mixer-applet. I don't know what the best way is to handle this. One way could be, to have a tab in the sound-preferences, where it is possible to specify a custom string, which will be displayed for that output device, but perhaps other people have better ideas. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/718100 Title: Add possibility to change output device -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 486734] Re: Misplaced elements when converting from svg to wmf
I completely agree, the main problem is that openoffice does not support svg, eps or pdf, and openoffice is the place where this should be fixed. However, I don't see a solution there in the near future: http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=49991 (opened 2005) http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2497 (opened 2005) http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/SVG_Import_Filter There actually is a svg import filter, however it doesn't seem to work very well (see attached screenshot, where I imported my initial svg file). As far as I know, it translates svg into odg, therefore I think this filter will have problems for quite some time. I think the inability to display svg or eps/pdf files is really a problem which should be solved. Hi Leann, I'll try to reproduce the error after work, and attach the requested files. My device uses the rt73usb driver. The error occurred, when I was downloading a huge file via http and was surfing at the same time. But I have to say, that I only experienced this problem twice. I have been surfing for several hours without experiencing any problem. -- RT73 wireless stops working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
