[Bug 876105] Re: Remote Desktop Viewer (vinagre) does not remember passwords

2013-01-10 Thread ororo
Please notice Remmina *looks* good, but it isn't. I used Remmina for a while,
then I returned back to Vinagre because Remmina crashes too often.
So, I would like to solve this bug of Vinagre.

If I right-click on a torrent - Properties - Speed tab, the application

The bug has been reported and fixed for other distros:

[Bug 995521] [NEW] dput warnings if there are spaces in path

2012-05-06 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

I compiled a package inside my ~/Ubuntu One folder, then try dput
it (to mentors.debian.net). The output:

Checking signature on .changes
gpg: impossibile aprire /home/ororo/Ubuntu
gpg: verify signatures failed: errore durante l'apertura del file
Error in finding signature verification status.

Apart from this, dput works. Files are transferred to the server anyway.
I don't know if this is dangerous or not. In doubt, I have modified one line of

[Bug 881079] Re: Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration at startup

2011-11-01 Thread ororo
Same problem here. I installed 1.3-0ubuntu11 from oneiric-proposed, but nothing
changed.
The delay was caused by the following lines of /etc/network/interfaces:

auto dsl-provider
iface dsl-provider inet ppp
pre-up /sbin/ifconfig wlan0 up # line maintained by pppoeconf
provider dsl-provider

Indeed, the ppp connection relies on the wifi connection, which will be enabled
*after*, by Network Mananger.
I don't want to eliminate such lines.
So, I have solved in this way: I removed all the sleep lines inside
/etc/init/failsafe.conf. Now, everything works.

Now, I ask you programmers: why all these sleeps? Why do you want to
wait 2 minutes? I think, if the network is not up after few seconds,
skip it, and boot up without network. Please tell me if I am wrong.

[Bug 881079] Re: Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration at startup

2011-11-01 Thread ororo
Thank you for your answer. However, there is a reason if want to keep
ppp inside /etc/network/interfaces. Indeed, when finally the wlan is
started, then the ppp will work, too, without human interference.
Otherwise, if I remove the interface ppp, I will have to manually launch
pon dsl-provider... ok, not a great effort, but I prefer to avoid it.

By the way, I am *sure* that my wlan will never take 1 minute to get up.
So, in my opinion, there should be some parameter somewhere allowing the
user to de/activate the 2 minutes sleep. Just my opinion.

[Bug 797090] [NEW] cannot sync files on ntfs

2011-06-14 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I need to sync a folder on a NTFS partition. I have read/write access to
the partition:

drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 4096 2011-02-18 12:46 archivio/

I open nautilus, right click - Ubuntu One - Synchronize this folder, and
nothing happens.
On the other side, everything's ok for folders in the home (EXT4) partition.

Another experiment: instead of accessing the partition via
/home/username/link-to-the-partition/path I have tried to access it via

see the Synchronize this folder item in nautilus' menu.

[Bug 571570] Re: network-manager does not manage wired network, no ip address on eth0

2010-12-05 Thread ororo
I have a similar issue.
The problem (in my case) is that pppoeconf modifies the file
/etc/network/interfaces, adding the lines:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet manual

so that network-manager stops to handle eth0.
I commented these two lines, and network-manager works again.

[Bug 685422] [NEW] network manager pppoe+wifi

2010-12-05 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

This is not a bug report, but a request of improvement.

I have a DSL pppoe connection, through a wifi modem. At the moment, I
have to use network-manager in order to connect to wifi, and then sudo
pon dsl-provider for DSL. I cannot see a way, inside network manager,
to use a DSL connection through a wifi modem.

This is quite annoying, because pppoeconf and network manager do not
work very well together, as I wrote here:

[Bug 509632] Re: ubuntu freezes too often

2010-06-29 Thread ororo
I am sorry for the long silence. I simply forgot to answer this bug any
more.

The bug is still present in Lucid Lynx 10.04, even if it does not happen so
often as before.
I noticed that Ubuntu freezes mainly after a standby. For example, I put my
laptop in standby, then I wake it up, then I work with the laptop for some
minutes (even 10-15 minutes!) then Ubuntu, suddenly, freezes, exactly as I
reported above. I don't know if the two events are related, or not.

I attach the syslog. I have taken it just after the reboot of the
laptop, after the last freezing.

Thank you.

2010-01-25 Thread ororo
Now, my system is improved a bit.

I have disabled Ubuntu desktop effects, and after some days I have enabled them
again.
Ubuntu has downloaded some drivers (which ones? why?) and now the system works
better. It freezes just sometimes, once each 2-3 days.

5 minutes ago Ubuntu has freezed again. AltGr+SysReq+R did not work,
while AltGr+SysReq+B did.

I attach my syslog.

[Bug 509632] [NEW] ubuntu freezes too often

2010-01-19 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Sometimes, usually once-twice a day, my Ubuntu freezes.
Everything seems blocked: keyboard, mouse, screen.
Ctrl+Alt+Fx does not work, so I can't open another terminal.
The only key that is recognized is AltGr+SysReq+B, which reboots my machine.

Apparently, the bug appears independently on the application I am using.

Other possibly useful informations:
on my machine (a laptop Acer Aspire 5612) there is Ubuntu 9.10 installed. I
have installe KDE, too, using kubuntu-desktop. I have (more or less) always the
following programs opened: Firefox, Thunderbird, Kile, Nautilus,
Gnome-terminal, Skype. The graphic card is:
[CODE]
$ lspci|grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
[/CODE]

[Bug 428948] Re: kile-i18n (translations) should be added when available

2009-11-24 Thread ororo
Problem appeared again in karmic...

I think (but of course it's just my opinion) you should include in the
repositories all the packages kile-i18n-xxx, even if they are in beta.
Or, you could include the packages kile-i18n-xxx from some old version.

A bad or partial translation is better than no translation at all.

[Bug 432931] Re: tools toolbar not completely displayed

2009-11-10 Thread ororo
I've made another experiment.
I deleted both ~/.kde/share/config/kilerc and ~/.kde/share/apps/kile/kileui.rc
This makes kile fresh, every setting is restored as default
Then, I changed something inside the tools toolbar, and also inside the
main toolbar.

Result:
(i) there is no difference among the 2 toolbars
(ii) kile remembers /almost/ every change I do to the toolbars
(iii) the only buttons that are not displayed are the tools buttons (latex,
pdflatex, viewpdf, so on)

A workaround (that I don't like) is to give up to the buttons Latex,
pdflatex, ... and use the button with popup menu

Same problem here.
My tools toolbar is customized, I don't have any quickpreview button, so
when I run kile the toolbar is shown empty!!! very annoying.

In order to show the toolbar, I follow the same procedure of ptitpoul.
On the other side, if I do: right click on toolbar - toolbars - tools (so
that the toolbar disappears), and then again right click on toolbar -
toolbars - tools, the toolbar appears empty again.

[Bug 442288] [NEW] prolog-like commands correction

2009-10-04 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

This is just for the wishlist.

I have recently discovered a funny feature of Prolog: if you type a wrong
command, the interpreter suggests you a correction:

Correct to: halt? [y/n]

Maybe it is possible to implement such a feature in bash?

[Bug 386465] [NEW] dvi2ps creates a confusing title

2009-06-12 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: texlive-base

Situation: I compile a file somestuff.tex - somestuff.dvi -somestuff.ps
using latex and dvi2ps.
Then, I open somestuff.ps and in the title bar I see a strange title:
somestuff.dvi.

This is very confusing.

I don't know exactly which application creates the title somestuff.dvi: maybe
latex? or dvi2ps?
In any case, I suggest that
(i) latex could generate a more simple title somestuff, or
(ii) dvi2ps could correct any .dvi title into .ps.

[Bug 293534] [NEW] missing .mo files

2008-11-04 Thread ororo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rapidsvn

This relates with bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/161184, but I prefer to
open a new issue.
The point is: some translations do exist, but they are badly installed. (also
the french language).

When I install rapidsvn with apt-get, apt-get creates the file:
  /usr/share/locale/it_IT/rapidsvn.po
but *not* the corresponding .mo file, that I have compiled by myself:
  /usr/share/locale/it_IT/LC_MESSAGES/rapidsvn.mo
After this, the translation works.

Notice that usually apt-get creates the .mo file, and /not/ the .po
file.

Notice that usually apt-get creates the .mo file, and /not/ the .po
  file.

- Using Kubuntu 8.10, but I think this is useless.
+ Using Kubuntu 8.04, but I think this is useless.
