Just reinstalled yesterday and it seems to work perfectly (except manual
need to install GRUB with the force option because doesn't like the
EFI/partitions)

[Bug 497162] Re: applesmc motion sensor and touchpad in xorg

2010-01-22 Thread osteenbergen
I just tried to install 10.04 Alpha 2 and I cannot install it because of
this bug. I have no propper control over my mouse, because with my
MacBook Pro 4,1 the DVD is spinning and causes vibrations that are
detected by the sensor and it repositioned it back to the center of the
screen. I could only complete the installation by keyboard. Plugging an
USB mouse into the laptop didn't improve the situation.

[Bug 423625] Re: Karmic alpha 4 hangs at boot before GRUB with characters sequence

2009-09-04 Thread osteenbergen
Original partition which caused the crash (in correct order on HD)

- sda-1 free space (600KB or so)
- sda1 EFI
- sda2 OSX
- sda4 swap
- sda5 EXT4 Ubuntu
- sda-1 free space (400KB or so)
- sda3 FAT32
- sda-1 free space (600KB)

But after reorganizing (Reinstalled Ubuntu partitioned with GParted) the
partitions it worked:

- sda-1 free space (600KB or so)
- sda1 EFI
- sda2 OSX
- sda3 EXT4 Ubuntu
- sda4 swap
- sda5 FAT32
- sda-1 free space (600KB)

Now GRUB starts without a problem and Ubuntu runs. So maybe the
partitioner should create the partitions in sequence on the ard drive.

[Bug 185311] Re: hardy, locking assertion failure, xorg/libsdl

2008-06-25 Thread osteenbergen
Installed the noxcb package. No luck, I now get a sequence lost error when i
run glx or fglrxinfo.
But some program like ume-launcher are running with the patch.
Does anyone know how to fix these sequence errors or is that just because there
is a new version of glxinfo which uses xcb?

[Bug 218094] Re: Wrong battery information

2008-04-25 Thread osteenbergen
Well I found that my DSDT table give me 137 errors if i recompile it
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ACPIBattery)
But on this page at the end they say something about the battery module..
I started testing and found something wierd

If i start my pc from a complete shutdown the information is wrong. reloading
battery does not work
If i hibernate my pc. wake it up again and then reload the battery module it
works perfect..

Now i use hibernate instead of shutdown. I'm the only user of my laptop
so thats easy for me

08:11:18 hours until charged?! and 25% charged when it hasn't been
unplugged for a week?

2008-03-29 Thread osteenbergen
file:///usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/index.html

Welcome to Ubuntu 8.04 LTS!

The Ubuntu project is built on the ideas enshrined in the Ubuntu
philosophy: that software should be available free of charge, that
software tools should be usable by people in their local language, and
that people should have the freedom to customize and alter their
software in whatever way they need.

Seems updated but bug not marked as fixed ;)

2008-01-18 Thread osteenbergen
Just installed 8.01
Looks good on 200M
Thought I messed something up because the GDM font was looking big again but
they fixed the small letters (but i liked the small letters :( )

No more corruption in lower corner ( 30 min and counting, usually i have them
in 15 min ) and suspend still works like a charm.
My screen is only 1280x800 so no report on big screen here and removed hardy by
gutsy so no report on that kernel

My gpm does give me 2 batteries.. and it shows me that is charging.. but it
isnt. I would love to have that feature btw.. charging without an ac connected
:P
The laptop still detects when i disconnect it (or connect it) but it takes 10
secondes to go from brightness dimmed mode to normal mode (and back).

[Bug 121653] Re: [gutsy] fglrx breaks over suspend/resume

2007-12-23 Thread osteenbergen
Working fine here :O

In previous versions suspend would crash before the laptop could reach suspend
(Got 200M/1150). But now everything works as it should!
So they must have fixed something!?! but why not everything...

[Bug 121653] Re: [gutsy] fglrx breaks over suspend/resume

2007-10-25 Thread osteenbergen
8.42 will not fix this bug.
It doesnt have 2.6.23 support, this kernel has in standard configuration SLUB.
Reports on the internet show that suspend will not work.
I hope that 8.43 solves this problem.

[Bug 121653] Re: [gutsy] Suspend to Ram does not work on Z61m

2007-10-10 Thread osteenbergen
Well you should be lucky, your flashlight is even blinking..
Just joking.

If i suspend the screen goes blank, can hear the harddrive powerdown and thats
it. Just silence and glowing powerled instead of a blinking one.
Using latest fglrx and 2.6.22-13

Have tried the open source driver but ATI 200M/1150 doesnt like open
source :O

[Bug 144867] Re: [gutsy] Total hang on using rt2x00

2007-10-02 Thread osteenbergen
Just did an apt-get install of ndiswrapper

sudo apt-get install ndisgtk ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

Then added ndiswrapper to /etc/modules, because else ndiswrapper doenst
get loaded during startup and then you have to sudo iwlist wlan0 scan
every login.

ndiswrapper -v
utils version: 1.9
driver filename:
/lib/modules/2.6.22-12-generic/ubuntu/misc/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko
version:1.45
vermagic: 2.6.22-12-generic SMP mod_unload 586

Attachment are the windows config files for 32 and 64 bit
Just start up the ndisgtk and select the correct ini for your system.

Mathew your card should work with this windows driver.
(list of cards supported is in the end of the rt2500.inf file)

2007-10-01 Thread osteenbergen
Dont know if someone is looking for a work around for this problem but the
ndiswrapper with windows drivers is working great in 32 and 64 bit Ubuntu
So just remove the rt2x00 and rt2500 and use them.

[Bug 144867] [gutsy] Total hang on using rt2x00

2007-09-25 Thread osteenbergen
Public bug reported:

Problem looks like:
#133251 / #132960

When rt2500 /rt2x00 is active in kernel on todays update the laptop will
crash on startup (after login before desktop appears).. on every update
of linux-ubuntu-modules i have to remove the files related to rt2x00
otherwise the system is useless.

So please fix the bug or remove the drivers !

Same here 100% lockup of system (SysRQ works but thats it)

Using Gutsy Tribe 5 on AMD64...

everything worked fine one week ago. But this morning I connected to a
open wireless connection with a Cisco login site (that sets your
session) and back at home it crashes on startup while connecting to a
basic WEP 64 HEX network.
