After installation, I rebooted and ended up with a blank screen, no dos
prompt or anything, after waiting a few minutes, I rebooted and same
thing. So I reinstalled the OS. Tried a different kernel and had the
same thing. Sorry, you are dealing with a person of limited computer
abilities.

I have attempted to up grade to 9.10 from a wonderfully running 9.04 with out

When I went to places/computer/drives. I can not access it there. clicking on

I think I have a work around. Completely uninstall slapd ( both) in

Mathias, I'm having a problem accessing my file system. The hard drive
is marked now as SCSI drive and I can't open any files. I'll need help
to get them for you or I may be forced to reload Gutsy.

A work around for me was to make sure all my repositories were active,
then use synaptic to install Open Office files that would not update.

synaptic acting up in gutsy gibbon 7.10
I think I have found a problem. After a fresh install, if I try to update
preferences , synaptic freezes. After a fresh install tonight I tried something
else. If you download a couple of packages in
nothing else running. Synaptic was freezing and when I force quit I
would get that error interminal. Apparently it was still running in the
background even after a force quit, as the icon would only flash if you
tried to start synaptic again
