[Bug 410948] Re: Volume too loud
I'm not sure what the purpose of these logs are. I mean, everyone knows what the problem is: the alsa mixer tracks are increasing asynchronously instead of the previous approach which was to select what tracks you want the volume to control, thus having a selection of tracks moving synchronously (or one track only). This is a bug as the current method has undesirable effects. [Bug 410948] Re: Volume too loud
Karmic alpha 4 I'm finding the same as Taylor. I have a Dell Precision M90 laptop with an LFE channel (sub-woofer). Watching alsamixer, I see that PCM goes up first, followed by LFE, followed by Master. I won't allow anything else. Using the volume hotkeys gives the same results. This means my sub-woofer is at full volume before the main speakers start to do anything. A fresh install of Karmic alpha 3 shows all the channels working independently in alsamixer. [Bug 378325] Re: X login screen volume always set to max; crazy loud
Despite it being an 'alsa thing', it can be amended by the Ubuntu devs. The alsa file in question is /etc/init.d/alsa-utils. Line 143 has the function 'sanify_levels_on_card' where it can be clearly seen the levels are at 80%. I have demonstrated to myself, with a custom Live CD, that reducing these levels (master or pcm) does reduce the volume. [Bug 270617] Re: Display corruption after short period
The only fix that works is the one given by Markus. Otherwise, yes, go back to Hardy. -- Display corruption after short period https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270617 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 273326] Re: artifacts in Intrepid + nvidia binary drivers
I'm running nVidia beta driver 180.06, and I have not seen any artefacts. Seeing as this is an nVidia issue and not an AWN issue, it is safe to say that this is fixed if you use this driver version. -- artifacts in Intrepid + nvidia binary drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273326 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270617] Re: Display corruption after short period
I'm getting this with the nVidia beta 180.06 driver too. [Bug 284367] [NEW] Playback of video takes over screen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv When playing back videos in Totem, the video itself will overlay everything on the screen. This makes it impossible to use Totem's menus. This does not happen with the nVidia binary drivers. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Playback of video takes over screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284367 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270455] Re: Intrepid: nv driver does not use correct color depth
I've been thinking about this screenshot and realise why Timo can't see anything wrong. The png file will look correct under a 24 bit display, but have gradients under a 16 bit display. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- Intrepid: nv driver does not use correct color depth https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270455 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 270617] Re: Display corruption after short period
The only nVidia driver that is stable is 177.78. All others including 177.80 crash. Perhaps Markus could test 177.78 with nvclock. -- Display corruption after short period https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270617 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270617] Re: Display corruption after short period
Incidentally, using driver 177.78 from nVidia never crashed with me. But 177.80 from nVidia does, almost immediately. -- Display corruption after short period https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270617 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 109643] Re: [nvidia-glx] [amd64] Frequent lock ups with white screen with black lines when using nvidia binary driver with CPU speed scaling/Cool 'n Quiet
Have you been able to pin it down to anything? I have noticed the GPU runs 10C hotter in Intrepid than in Hrady, but it doesn't seem to be an overheating problem. I really am stumped as to what's causing it. -- [nvidia-glx] [amd64] Frequent lock ups with white screen with black lines when using nvidia binary driver with CPU speed scaling/Cool 'n Quiet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270617] Re: Display corruption after short period
I have found that by running my laptop in a lower power state, that is setting the CPU freq. to powersave, this seems to help. Also, I'm using a basic stripped down version of xorg.conf which I'm letting nvidia- settings change only. ** Attachment added: xorg.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18030938/xorg.conf -- Display corruption after short period https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270617 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
