Hi Christian, I really appreciate your efforts with this. I think the logical solution to edit an existing snapshot is using the snapshot-edit command, it seems counter intuitive to have to use any other means. Giving it a bit more thought I would actually consider the current behaviour a bug

Hi Christian, Retaining old machine types would certainly be better than not, but moving a VM with snapshots outside the Ubuntu ecosystem would still break it (say to Debian or Mint). I imagine setting 'pc' for machine type would be better for snapshots, then at least you have half a chance
