[Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558
Hi, I have a Dell Studio 1558. uname -a : Linux mypc-Studio-1558 2.6.35-32-generic-pae #67-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 5 21:23:19 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux With no boot parameters ls /sys/class/backlight: acpi_video0 When using acpi_backlight=vendor as boot parameter: ls /sys/class/backlight: dell_backlight Until the latest update i.e. 2.6.35-32, the brightness up/down was working fine with acpi_backlight=vendor as the only boot parameter. After the update, the brightness up/down doesn't work and the screen is at full brightness. Note that I have the PAE kernel. Help! (my eyes are burning and its exam time!!) [Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558
Dear Kamal, I had installed your fix about a month back and it was excellently until a couple of days back when I did a sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade. I don't remember seeing any kernel related packages in the update. I am using the Dell Studio 1558 laptop, I still use the acpi_backlight=vendor as a start up parameter, but now it doesn't work. I wonder if anyone else had this issue. Sorry! I see what you mean. I wonder how it reverted back to the other kernel image. [Bug 53897] Re: Disappearing panels/menus in Xubuntu
I am still having this issue in Xubuntu 10.04 (32 Bit) installed on a Dell Studio 15 (64 Bit). Is there a fix? I tried the work-arounds floating on the internet, like starting xfce4-panel in the terminal, saving the session and logging in again, etc etc. Whatever I do, the panel disappears as soon as I close the Terminal, and doesn't even run with xfce4-panel in 'alt+f2'. -- Disappearing panels/menus in Xubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 157447] Re: xfce4 mouse cursor themes not used in all applications
Workaround for this problem: (Works on Xubuntu 8.04.3 LTS, not sure about other versions.). Put the theme in /usr/share/icons/ /usr/share/icons/MyTheme Modify the 'index.theme' in the '/use/share/icons/default' file to look like this: -- [Icon Theme] Inherits=MyTheme [Desktop Entry] GenericName=MyTheme -- I don't know if the GenericName entry is necessary or not, but I am too lazy to check if it is. Anyways, this works and I have a consistent themed mouse pointer throughout :) Hope it helps someone! -- xfce4 mouse cursor themes not used in all applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157447 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 311057] Re: the difference between the add to panel menus entries is not obvious
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and still experiencing this bug. Unable to create a custom Menu through Add to panel after right clicking on the Panel. All it does is creates a clone of the Main Menu.
