Log message after the reading the system state information:

1. Calculating the changes
2. Could not calculate the upgrade
3. An unresolvable problem occured while calculating the upgrade.
4. This was likely caused by: * Unofficial software packages not provided by 
Ubuntu. Please use tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge package to remove a 
launchpad PPA.

Tried to ppa-purge but issue still persists.
Had ROS installed. So uninstalled it-
>> sudo apt-get purge ROS-*

Also removed all the unrequired packages-
>> sudo apt-get autoremove

This is my first bug report so, i'm not sure about the format. Please
pardon me if it's not the correct format.

I'm using ubuntu20 on a PC with i5 8th gen, 8GB RAM and 128 SSD. Ubuntu
20 runs smoothly without any problems on a virtual machine. But recently
I installed ubuntu 20 as my main machine.

As soon as a run something heavy like vagrant or android studio the
screen freezes but everything still runs on the background. For
instance, If i'm playing a video on youtube and I launch vagrant, the
screen freezes but the video keeps playing in the background.

I'm not sure what's causing the problem.

[Bug 1888222] [NEW] Error whilst populating Cinder Volume database

After all the configurations, when I tried to populate Cinder-Volume
database, below error generated although it completed its migrations
till end. I double checked the character set as well and it is set to
utf8. Never used to get this error before as I used same steps to set up

[Bug 1863257] Re: Neutron db sync fails

Got same errors. 
Solved by commenting out below lines of code under this 
(d6a12e637e28_neutron_fwaas_v2_0.py) python file:

op.create_primary_key(

['firewall_group_id', 'port_id'])

For anyone new encountering same issue, follow tracebacks thoroughly and
you shall see something like this:

File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-
packages/neutron_fwaas/db/migration/alembic_migrations/versions/newton/expand/d6a12e637e28_neutron_fwaas_v2_0.py",
line 107, in upgrade

to know your similar file name. CD into that dir and vim it, and comment
out above lines of code that says op.create_primary_key ...

Once, you make those changes, you also need to delete this table
(firewall_policies_v2) which is under neutron database. However, you
won't be able to delete it as it has foreign key connected to some other
tables. Solution to this is to rather delete entire neutron database
(DROP database neutron).

After that, re-create neutron database and just apply:

su -s /bin/sh -c "neutron-db-manage --config-file /etc/neutron/neutron.conf \
--config-file /etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini upgrade head" neutron

to populate Neutron database.

Due to unavailability of "grub package installer" installation process cannot 
be able to proceed further.
I tried atleast 4 time but every time the installation stop while installing 
the grub package.
kindly help me with that..!!!

After making the required settings in alsamixer, do `sudo alsactl store
0`. This will make your settings persistent on reboot.

By the way, this bug is fixed by one of the 4.4 kernels itself in 16.04

Just updates to kernel 4.9.2 and headphones work perfectly fine now. Bug
fixed! Not sure if any older kernel version itself fixed the bug. If

The symbols file located at '/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/np' doesnot seem
to work for zero width joiner. The  'equal' key in line 22 should work
as zero width joiner.

'पर्=यो' is the output while it should be 'पर्‍यो' ।

The workout seems to be replacing 'equal' in line 22 with '0x100200D'

Also, the upper keys in numbers i.e. @,#,$,% etc are missing and should
be available as is except for +,= where zero width joiner and non-joiner
are used.

ASUS X55U, AMD E2 processor. Initially, did not boot after 'successful'
installation of 13.04. Gave error 'insert a valid boot media and press
any key'. Later, after creating a BIOS partition using gparted, was able
to load OS and boot. After booting a few times, tried to load Chrome.
Loaded a few other progs (Libre Office Base, GIMP, Blueman and few
others). When I try to restart the machine the nbext day, it goes into
the infinite loop. So, tried loadinhg OS again.

Hello Phill

Noted ... just the case that upgrading every 6 months does break a few
things and thats ok for an individual (though still its tough) ... but in
case of a deployment of more than 6 computers ... thats quite a big work ...

I appreciated the improvements been done ... currently using 12.10 up from
11.04,11.10, 12.04 step by step ... but I think Lubuntu primarily targets
desktops ... more so hardware with lower resources than Ununtu Desktop
requirements ... so I personally feel that desktops should have stable base
for at least 24 months before a full upgrade ... and the applications
running can be updated as and when the updates are available to have the
latest versions running ...

So, to sum up what I was actually suggesting is that Lubuntu could only
have 12.04, 14.04, 16.04 etc ... with app upgrades pushed as and when
available and deemed stable ... of course security updates available
immediately ...

I am not aware of the rules for Ubuntu ... but I think that derivative wise
there should be certain liberties considering the target audience ... while
the overall Ubuntu encapsulating with loose coupling ...

I tried to share files on a newer installation of Gutsy Gibbon which is
located on a regular desktop PC on a home network. But when I try to add
a file to be shared, I get the following window

sharing services are not installed

you need to install at least either Samba or NFS in order to share your
folders

 install unix neworks support (nfs)
 install windows network support (smb)

In this window - I click a button to install these but nothing installs,
and the same window comes back up again repeatedly. I checked in
synaptic packet manager and smb was installed. I decided to remove and
reinstall it, but after removing it - it does not appear as an option to
reinstall it. An option to install unix networks support is not in
synaptic manager.

I got some advice to install samba.  Currenly samba common is installed.
No option for installing samba is available in synaptic manager.

how dow I fix this situation so I can share files?

I got this message in vnc when I ran virtual machine of ubuntu 12.04 with the 
default kernel 2.6.32-41-server then with the updated kernel 3.2.0-24-generic 
but error still persist.
I can login to the vm  may be because --no-logs option in the /boot/grub.cfg.

Another thing that I noticed is if we access the webservers
access.log files then we find that the OS is logged as Ubuntu rather than
Lubuntu.

Dont you think so that the browsers must send the correct OS name ... since
in that case we cannot make out the approximately among all browsing users
how many use Lubuntu? I think we need to know the market share of the OS.

It could also be Ubuntu/Lubuntu or Ubuntu/Kubuntu etc ... but IMO not
only Ubuntu ...

When we are playing via flash or HTML5 this does not apply.

Also, there are many settings which the hardware is capable of via the
driver itself, if we compare the windows drivers ... like 3D sound,

when i try install ubuntu(11.10 and 12.04beta) on the asus k53sm machine
with i7 processor, the installation terminates immediately after the
splash screen saying it is due signal 9. When i install windows7 on the
same machine it works fine, so no problem with the hardware.

other observations are that the CPU cooling fan is running full speed ... 
system has to be shutdown forcefully suing the power button ... switching to 
terminal login aslos does not work ... CTRL_ALT+F1, etc ...

When I click on the menu Weather Indicator in Accessories nothing happens.

Aslo, when I try to add it to panel by clicking Add/Remove panel items---Panel 
Applets--- there is no listing of this indicatior.
When I select Indicator applets, it shows no indicators on the panel.

Also, there is no listing of weather indicator in the list of available
applets in the Add plugins to panel window ...

refresh. Users then can change it themselves after they login for the

I Tried

sudo apt-get purge tomcat6
sudo apt-get autoremove
and
sudo apt-get autoclean 

but still its not working

Giving me error as 
tomcat6 is not installed
