2010-10-04 Thread stephenb
Same problem. It's a long standing issue.

Another expired report here:

Here says a fix has been released
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/560322

But I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a new disk and it's the same old
problem for me.

I can't reproduce it. This was one of many problems I had after taking the

The problems mounted up and defeated me in the end and I decided on a fresh

Thanks anyway.

[Bug 191575] Re: wine segfaults on winecfg

2008-06-02 Thread stephenb
Hi,
Once I tried that command, I got a blank line, and then of course a 0 after
running cat /proc/sys/vm/mmap_min_addr

I then ran winecfg. A segfault resulted again. However, an apport report
was triggered which may shed some more light on the problem.

[Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree

2008-06-02 Thread stephenb
In my case, it looks like I was jumping the gun. My apologies.

It's still true that my iPod icon does not change when the iPod is
unmounted. However, the mounting and unmounting of other devices
(camera, USB) is working correctly.

So, I'm not really getting what is described here. None of my device
occurrences multiply, and my iPod alone just stays the same in the
nautilus tree.

[Bug 203825] Re: [hardy] GDM hangs on a black screen upon startup

2008-06-01 Thread stephenb
Also, I'd like to add that I've found I only get this problem after
installing fglrx according to these instructions on the Unofficial ATI
Linux Driver Wiki:

http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...allation_Guide

Following these instructions is the only way I can get a working fglrx
driver.

However, if I use the regular Ubuntu xorg repositories for fglrx, it
doesn't happen. But then I am left with Mesa OpenGL rendering, which
doesn't work will for me.

[Bug 191575] Re: wine segfaults on winecfg

2008-05-31 Thread stephenb
Hi Daniel,
Yes, 0.9.59-0ubuntu5 crashes. I listed the versions earlier that I've tried. I
reinstalled 0.9.59-0ubuntu5 and this is when I get when I try to run Notepad,
for example:

wine[15061]: segfault at 4a6c3f68 rip 4a6c3f68 rsp ffe68dfc error 15

Apport doesn't generate anything automatically, at least not in
/var/crash. I ran a command I'd noticed on a website, apport-cli -f -p
wine. It generated information and opened up a browser at launchpad,
ready for me to submit a new report, but I don't want to do that. I just
need the info to put here. So, I'm not sure how to use apport to
generate a report I can cut and paste.

I should mention that since upgrading to Hardy, I've been getting many
segfaults, more than I've even seen in my life!

[Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree

2008-05-31 Thread stephenb
I am having the same problem with the unmount status not being reflected
in Nautilus. However, it may not be exactly the same as the one
reported.

After an upgrade to Hardy, when I unmount my iPod, for example, its icon
remains exactly the same. A right click will show the option to mount
it.

But a click of the left mouse button on the icon will automatically
mount the iPod, although it will not give any indication that it has,
which I cannot see as a feature.

Also, unlike Rolf's report, if I open a new nautilus window with Ctrl+n,
it will STILL show the already unmounted device.

[Bug 235755] [NEW] Folder Window Backgrounds Messed Up

2008-05-29 Thread stephenb
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 228534 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228534

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Since upgrading to Hardy 64bit (from Feisty), I cannot get consistent
background patterns in any windows. Instead I get random and very ugly
background patterns that make folder names illegible. I have to add
another background to read them or view everything as a list.

The patterns are usually not even close to the pattern I'd previous
chosen as a default. The patterns vary. However, one that does seem to
recur has a black background with small vertical lines across the
window. These small lines are alternatively red and aqua colored.

If I open another window that has everything listed and select View as
Icons, it might be a completely different pattern, but invariably a
complete mess. But if I go from window to window, when each is in icon
view, the patterns will be the same.

At the moment, I have to view everything as a list.
