[Bug 1115460] Re: Ubuntu One notes sync is going away

2013-03-01 Thread tekstr1der
Wow, this isn't good news. The _only_ reason I use Ubuntu One is to
keep 3 systems with Tomboy notes synced via U1 server.

What is the alternative when the servers are turned off?
Will Ubuntu still provide a sync server for supporting 12.04.x LTS users?

[Bug 395666]

2013-02-10 Thread tekstr1der
Time-remaining informatin is still missing from the battery plasmoid in
KDE 4.10.

Why is this listed as resolved/fixed? Must yet another bug be raised for
this same issue?

Also, it's not a wishlist item, but rather a regression. This function
was working properly in previous releases.

Someone who is able to mark this as affecting the current series -
Ubuntu (Precise) - please do so. Otherwise this bug will be ignored due
to its upstream/trunk Fix Released status. Launchpad has become very
frustrating.

[Bug 768931] Re: no custom icon on launcher displayed for mono winforms and ogre apps

2012-05-02 Thread tekstr1der
Oneiric install of keepass2 here crashes/freezes Unity completely.

1) launch keepass via dash
2) observe grey question mark icon in launcher with 3 arrows.
3) single-click said launcher
4) Unity is frozen, mouse pointer still moves, but no keyboard/mouse
interaction is possible.

I switched to a virtual terminal and restarted Unity, but noticed
display corruption in the tty. Many characters are replaced with
seemingly random ascii non-alphabetic characters.

This is a show-stopper bug and should have a much higher Importance set.

[Bug 883317] Re: indicators menu are sometimes cut off at screen edge

2012-04-28 Thread tekstr1der
Again... I filed this bug report against Oneiric 11.10, _not_ 12.04.
Will the fix be committed to the proper release please?

[Bug 883317] Re: indicators menu are sometimes cut off at screen edge

2012-04-26 Thread tekstr1der
Thank you for picking up this bug work. I am the original reporter here.
I filed this bug against the Oneiric 11.10 release.

Why am I not able to use theever-worsening launchpad user interface to
mark this bug as affecting Unity (Ubuntu) Oneiric? Am I overlooking
something simple? It should not be so difficult to select a release as
affected!

Will someone with the proper permission to modify this please do so?

Also, as the bug is filed against 11.10, can we expect to see the fix
proposed for this release?

[Bug 754565] Re: Regression: shift+click on a launcher icon to open a new application instance gone

2012-04-25 Thread tekstr1der
@Sebastien: This is still an issue in Oneiric with a branch fix awaiting
merge proposal per comment #25.

Why did you change the status for Oneiric to Won't Fix? With a full year
remaining in 11.10 support cycle, I'd expect to see updates to Unity
still. No? Has the 4.x series development been abandoned entirely?

[Bug 489830] Re: Settings of gpointing-device-settings are non-persistent

2012-04-23 Thread tekstr1der
This bug is still affecting the soon-to-be-released 12.40 Precise
Pangolin.

I use a Lenovo X201s and have both trackpoint and touchpad. I use
g-p-d-s to disable the touchpad.

Since this option isn't available in the default Mouse and Touchpad
system settings, is there any other gui workaround or must I modify
xinput settings manually to get this otherwise basic and expected
functionality?

[Bug 961464] Re: package linux-image-3.2.0-19-generic 3.2.0-19.31 failed to install/upgrade: run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 1

2012-03-22 Thread tekstr1der
Related to grub it seems.

Using the Workaround: remove /etc/kernel/*/zz-update-grub

posted by Colin ( comment #3 from bug #932663 )

works around the problem for now, but I still cannot update grub, and
hence cannot boot the new kernel.

[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens

2012-02-09 Thread tekstr1der
It looks like fixing this problem is actually on the radar for 12.04
LTS. It's important to note that the fix _cannot_ simply be an ON/OFF
option:

1) ON - Leaves alive all the same issues described in this lengthy bug report.
2) OFF - Defeats the benefits of the Global Menu with a maximized window.

While those two options should certainly be available, it is critical
that the fix includes the single most important and most requested
option:

[x] Global Menu only for maximized windows

Without this option, no progress toward a real solution will have been
made. Having all three options will satisfy the full range of users and
use-cases.

[Bug 870742] Re: g_value_get_object: assertion `G_VALUE_HOLDS_OBJECT (value)' failed ) spam in nautilus

2012-01-30 Thread tekstr1der
I realize that, but the ever-more-frustrating-to-use Launchpad tracking
system seems to no longer allow the nominating of a release series. I am
trying to get this back on the radar.

Obviously, as the bug is filed against 11.10, and that is the current
release, it should still have the status of confirmed or triaged. The
fix, so far, is only applied to pre-release version 12.04. Hence the
request for backporting.

Can someone with the ability to do so please nominate this bug/fix for
Oneiric so it's not lost in the shuffle with the misleading tag of Fix
Released.

[Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon

2011-12-07 Thread tekstr1der
This bug report is requesting a fix based on expected functionality
found commonly in other launchers/docks (AWN, Cairo Dock, Windows 7's
task bar, etc.) but _not_ in Unity.

Adding to the list, the new plasma-icontasks for KDE also provides the
expected minimize-on-click functionality, and greatly improves KDE's
usability.

Currently, clicking the launcher icon for a focused app in Unity does
exactly _nothing_... Ubu-FAIL!

Will the patch in comment #70 be included in the 3.0.9 rebase kernel
update proposed in bug# 890952 :Oneiric update to 3.0.9 stable release?

It's been a month since I've triggered this problem, but I mistakingly
double-clicked a .deb file, which launched Software Center. Later on, I
got the usual slew of errors and full disk message and now can no longer
boot into the Ubuntu partition. I will need to follow the steps I
outlined in comment #53 to remedy this again. I will start using the
patched kernel immediately.

I realize this is marked critical, and it's certainly a real show-
stopper bug. I just want to be sure the fix has been verified and will
definitely be included in kernel updates for Oneiric going forward.

@Tyler Hiks: Can you confirm this?

[Bug 883317] Re: 11.10 nm-applet menu cut off at screen edge

2011-11-17 Thread tekstr1der
@Mathieu: Thanks for checking this out. Yes, it's a cosmetic papercut
bug, and only happens on a new session.

Can be reproduced reliably on my system by mousing over the battery
indicator first, then moving over the network indicator.

Would be nice polish bug to at least make it into the LTS.

It appears this was never built, and 3.0.9 stable has been released
last week.

Will there now be an SRU for the 3.0.9 kernel in Oneiric?

Still seeing this bug, so many releases later, on Oneiric 11.10.

Simple workaround in comment #9 fixes the situation. Couldn't this be
a papercut for the upcoming 12.04 LTS?

[Bug 883317] Re: 11.10 indicator-network menu cut off at screen edge

2011-10-28 Thread tekstr1der
I incorrectly filed this against indicator-network.

I changed the project to NetworkManager which I believe is responsible
for nm-applet.

It appears I'm unable to remove the Network Menu project from the bug.
Why is that? The bug submitter should be able to change this info.

** Package changed: indicator-network (Ubuntu) = network-manager

[Bug 40872] Re: Desktop icons are allowed to overlap

2011-10-27 Thread tekstr1der
While I realize this is an upstream issue, I can't believe there's not
an Ubuntu patch even if upstream devs are unwilling to fix this.

Still seeing this same old bug behavior on Oneiric 11.10 with gnome 3.
The fact that this carried over from gnome 2.x.x shows a serious lack of
attention to usablilty/polish.
