[Bug 1773859] Re: upgrades to 18.04 fail

2020-02-01 Thread thethirdnut
Just did an do-release-upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 and ran into this
issue as well. The following fixed it like mentioned above.

sudo mv /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.systemd1.service
/usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.systemd1.service.bak
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt dist-upgrade
sudo apt autoremove

[Bug 699761] Re: Realtek RTL8111/8168B REV 6 PCI-E NIC bad performance

2011-02-22 Thread thethirdnut
Hi all.

So is there no further work planned for this bug? I have this same
chipset in two PC's. The rev 03 in my server works great; the rev 06
like listed here is another matter.

It did not work out-of-the-box for either 9.10 [32bit], 10.04 + 10.10
[64bit]. The only functionality I can get out of it is to use the deb
listed here -OR- the autorun.sh off the Realtek site which loads a
slightly newer module.

When this thing does work it limits itself to 100 Mbps. I can not force
it to 1 Gbps no matter what I try. Some info:

xbmc@i3c540:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=10.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=maverick
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 10.10

xbmc@i3c540:~$ uname -a
Linux i3c540 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21 17:40:44 UTC 2011
x86_64 GNU/Linux

xbmc@i3c540:~$ lspci | grep Realtek
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI
Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 06)

xbmc@i3c540:~$ sudo ethtool -i eth0
[sudo] password for xbmc:
driver: r8168
version: 8.020.00-NAPI
firmware-version:
bus-info: :02:00.0

xbmc@i3c540:~$ sudo mii-tool eth0
eth0: 100 Mbit, full duplex, link ok

-
TRYING to force it to gigabit kills the link:
xbmc@i3c540:~$ sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg on;sudo
mii-tool eth0
eth0: no link

bring it back by setting to 100 Mbps

xbmc@i3c540:~$ sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off

100 Mbps is no good for this intended application.

[Bug 451518] Re: [i945G] karmic: INFO: task i915/* blocked for more than 120 seconds.

2010-02-25 Thread thethirdnut
Hi All.

I just came home to find my ECS 945GCD-M(1.0) 945GC ATOM 330 system hung up
after approx 7 days uptime.
This is an atom 330 system with Intel 945 video. Was running Xscreensaver too
when this likely occurred. Havent seen any Xscreensaver issues in previous 2-3
weeks of use.

System did not respond to any keyboard or mouse; numlock stuck, but i
could still log in via ssh.

I'll attach my system info + syslog. Hope this helps.

I am uninstalling xscreensaver to see if it happens again.
