[Bug 2063834] Re: openjdk-8-jre:i386 openjdk-8-jre-headless:i386 missing for noble

2024-04-29 Thread Vladimir Petko
Would it be ok to update the bug like this:
 - openjdk-8:i386 is required for our users to run existing proprietary i386
applications that link against openjdk. i386 openjdk is not readily available,
e.g. Temurin[1] stopped those builds. Continuing to provide openjdk-8:i386 in
noble will allow our users to migrate to the latest LTS.

[Bug 2060246] Re: [FFe] Packaged VisualVM version (2.1.6) in Noble beta is incompatible with default java version (21)

2024-04-15 Thread Vladimir Petko

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/visualvm/+bug/2060246/+attachment/5765977/+files/piutest-visualvm.log.gz

** Description changed:

  [Why It is necessary]
VisualVM 2.1.6 is not compatible with Java 21:

Installing VisualVM via the apt on noble beta automatically installs
java 21, but the packaged version of VisualVM (2.1.6) only supports Java
20 and below. When you try to launch it, you get a pop up message
  stating:

"You are running VisualVM using an unsupported Java version: 21.

Please use JDK 8 to JDK20 to run VisualVM. For more information about
  requirements and setup visit https://visualvm.github.io.;

We need to upgrade to visualvm 2.1.8 to include support for Java 21
(default JDK) and Java 22 (shipped with Noble).

  [Changelog]

   - Release 2.1.7[1]
   - Release 2.1.8[2]

  [Build]

  PPA: ppa:vpa1977/visualvm[3]

  P: visualvm source: maintainer-manual-page [debian/visualvm.1]
  - piuparts test[5]
  - smoke test (profile tomcat).[6][7]

  [Where the problems can occur]

visualvm is a leaf package with no reverse dependencies.
Current version (2.1.6) can not be run by default-jdk.

Upstream visualvm depends on netbeans platform 19, where noble has 18
packaged.
This will make plugins that require specific versions of netbeans API
uninstallable:
   - VisualVM-Coherence: this plug-in provides a GUI to allow developers to
view information about a running Coherence Cluster.
   - VisualVM-JFR Streaming: support for Java Flight Recorder event streaming.

[Bug 2058985] Re: proposed-migration for iraf-fitsutil 2018.07.06-6build1

2024-04-10 Thread Vladimir Petko
** Description changed:

iraf-fitsutil 2018.07.06-6build1 is built in -proposed but not on armhf.
This will not block migration because armhf binaries are being removed
from the release pocket, but unless addressed will regress armhf
availability of this package in 24.04 LTS.

[Bug 2004449] Re: [MIR] libde265 (dependency of libheif)

2024-04-08 Thread Vladimir Petko
The smoke test for the decoder was implemented in 1.0.12-2, we do not
use encoding functionality of libde265 for the MIR purposes.
