2019-03-02 Thread Kella Wedill
Just installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on HP EliteBook 8470p. Got the same
error on fresh boot. It probebly was because of ubuntu now uses screen
rotation gyro(?) and started to rotate screen. Anyway, to steps to fix.

1. CTRL+ALT+F2 to get into console.
2. Login
3. Do

4. Do

[Bug 1808226] Re: Rotated screen is blank in Wayland sessions [Failed to set CRTC mode 1600x1200: No space left on device]

2018-12-12 Thread HankB
I updated to 18.10 in place. That fixes the problem with the blank
screen. Unfortunately the menu to the upper left does not seem to get
focus. To logout I go to the upper right and type logout which loads a
'logout app.' I suppose that's a different bug.

Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you would like further
testing. I'm working with scripts to install Ubuntu (and Debian) on ZFS
root and can load up a fresh install in a little longer than it takes to
install using the conventional installer.
