[Bug 318637] Re: no sound on HP Pavilion tx2510us

2010-03-11 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi crashfourit,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 318637

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

Folks, this problem disappears on my DV7 with Karmic. When you get a
chance, please test with Karmic and mark the bug as fix released if it
works for you.

[Bug 318637] Re: no sound on HP Pavilion tx2510us

2009-06-22 Thread Peter Whittaker

You might want to try a clean installation and the workaround suggested
on http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=331172

As root (sudo, su, however you prefer to get there), edit the file
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and add this line to the end of the file:

options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

Then reboot.

Please note that recent updates (applied between June 15, when I first
did the above, and June 22), caused the file to disappear - its entire
contents were copied to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. When this
happened, I was back to choppy sound. I restored sound by

sudo cp -p /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

and rebooting.

I used that quirk and it still does not quirk.

I attached the output of dmesg with the quirk enabled.

[Bug 318637] Re: no sound on HP Pavilion tx2510us

2009-01-19 Thread crashfourit
I found that pulse audio wasn't loaded and run it.

I did some testing and this:
options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba
works but this:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
does not when I got pulse audio to run.

Re: [Bug 318637] Re: no sound on HP Pavilion tx2510us

2009-01-18 Thread Daniel T Chen
The toshiba quirk was incorrect; I'm surprised it worked decently
at all in intrepid. For jaunty, you should not use any quirks, i.e.,
you should remove the options snd-hda-intel model=auto line
from /etc/modprobe.d*/*.

If, after a fresh reboot, sound remains inaudible, please use the
test quirk.
