I just switched back to Unity 3D after using Unity 2D for months because
of this bug. Indeed, it is not visible immediately, but unfortunately
using Dmitriy's approach, I see it is still there.

I use om26er's ppa and it solves the problem completely. Tried
Dimitry's steps but cannot reproduce the bug. Ubuntu 12.04 and
LibreOffice 3.6 from ppa. I think it is fixed in 12.10, though I have no
idea whether the fix affects the global menu because I have uninstalled
it.

as often as in 12.04, the icon is not invisible, but I have again the
issue of an active Writer instance in the launcher that is not the
regular icon, hence I see two Writer icons, the one I have kept in the

i like unity, i like ubuntu and i have bought services to give my
support to canonical (ubuntu one, ububuntu music, etc), but this is
really frustrating. From 11.04 onwards there is no single release that

On Ubuntu 12.04 I get this problem with Writer, Impress and Calc.
There is an additional case when no icon at all appears in the launcher.
As workaround I didn't open the files through Nautilus:
I opened the application first and then used the File Open option.
