Since fglrx is not in use for several years already, I think, it is safe
to close this bug. Such symptoms in the 2018 world will almost certainly
originate from Wayland usage rather than fglrx.

Shutter only shows Wallpaper / black screen in Ubuntu 12.1
I recently noticed on my Asus X550DP with ATI Radeon HD 8550 768MB and
HD 8670 2048MB, the problem (captured wallpaper only) will only occur
when I use the secondary graphics device, that is the HD 8550 which is
intended for battery savings.
Using the primary graphics card, HD 8670 that is inten
EDIT UPDATE ***
Shutter seems to work like normal after killing it from Terminal;

and even tested by calling Shutter from the CLI and successfully takes a
screenshot without turning screen black with just mouse cursor. This is
only a temporary fix measure when it plays up. I
Tried taking screenshot with Shutter and it blacks the entire screen,
does this for every other screenshot options; Full Screen, Selection,
Window, etc...
I did try cleaning up the image data files stored by Shutter in the home
directory ~/.shutter I think must of been because of that, but I had

A workaround seems to be to restart Compiz by entering "compiz

After updating to the AMD catalyst 13.1, I no longer have any trouble

since I've added the Ubuntu xorg edgers ppa. Many things have been

Shutter only shows Wallpaper / black screen in Ubuntu 12.10 (with
fglrx)
Now that I've updated my drivers to the newest in the Ubuntu repos, I'm
displaying some more odd behavior. The good news is that now that black
background isn't happening. My driver packaging version is 9.00.11
-120920a-147436C-ATI. 2D Driver version is 9.0.2.

The driver version shouldn't be the only reason, 12.11 is actually the
latest version available and still it works here. Also Unity shouldn't
be the only reason, since Greg has the bug using KDE. I would rather
suspect that the problem is in the "ubuntufied" version of the driver
from Ubuntu's repo
I think the bug occurs when using the latest available version of the
driver (downloaded from AMD's homepage). Unity might be one of the
causes as well.

Obviously there are some problems related to the latest ATI drivers.
Unfortunately I don't have access to any system with that configuration.
I'll see what I can do.
