Does this still occur for you? On my machine (trusty) it is resolved.
I just looked at the raw messages like this (as described in this bugreport

I found some tweets that contain

On Twitter this time, all the message appears in Friends, but the "&" is
replaced with ASCII code "&". Again, posted normally in Twitter,
just problem in Friends UI.
Also, other bug on French special character with accent : "ê"
Both in Friends, and this time in Twitter, it appears as "^e" and not
I wonder if the Qml is trying to interpret the & character as an HTML
entity, and eating up the rest of the message because it finds no
semicolon. I'll have to play with this a bit more.
