[Bug 134799] Re: dcgui won't launch

2008-05-08 Thread Greg Grossmeier
I just installed dcgui in Hardy and it worked first try. esd is not a
dependency of it, but I already had it installed.

Is this still an issue for you in Hardy?

[Bug 134799] Re: dcgui won't launch

2007-09-24 Thread HJMills
I have libesd-alsa0 installed and the dcgui package still won't launch.
If the package isn't well maintained should it be dropped or could it be
changed to depend on esd?

[Bug 134799] Re: dcgui won't launch

2007-09-24 Thread Barry deFreese
What I'm trying to say is that we can try to fix it but we need to know
what it's looking for. For example is esound-common enough?

What is the exact error that you receive?

Thanks.

[Bug 134799] Re: dcgui won't launch

2007-09-24 Thread HJMills
I already have esound-common installed. The error I get is:

[code]
$ dc_gui2
/bin/sh: /usr/bin/esd: not found
[/code]

This causes it to stop without exiting to the prompt. I personally gave
up on dcgui when it didn't work so I had uninstalled it (just
reinstalled it today to check those things for you).

I just installed apt-file and used it to find what package contained the
missing /usr/bin/esd and it is the esound package. After installing this
I don't get the error message but the program still does nothing and
goes nowhere.

Seems like the esd problem wasn't that major and the whole package just
doesn't work on Ubuntu. I am going to uninstall both esound and dcgui
and I have found alternatives that work but I am still interested in
finding a solution.

2007-09-23 Thread Barry deFreese
Well my quick testing for this failed because I already had esd
installed. Is there any way you can confirm if libesd-alsa0 is enough
of a depend?

Just so you know this package doesn't appear to be well maintained.
Thanks.
