I've tested the PDF included by Christopher and I observe the exact same
behavior as with some of my
other PDF documents.
I think the fix should be also rolled out for the last LTS version 14.04

Simply try to scroll 10-20 pages as fast as your mouse wheel allows.
Without thumbnail side-bar it scrolls absolutely smooth. When the
