This is likely a duplicate of Bug #121653. FGLRX doesn't support 2.6.23,
which could really mean "doesn't support the new SLUB allocator" (which
Ubuntu uses in 2.6.22).

Hmmm I'm getting slightly different results when I set my computer into Resume

Resume will not give me a blinking cursor or lag out. It will perform the
identical action of "Lock Screen."
Hibernate does throw me to a blinking cursor for about 5 seconds. Then it will
go to the "L
I also now notice that after it fails to suspend it seems to cause a
very large memory leak in Xgl. Xgl ends up using about 60% CPU and very
large amounts of RAM and it definitely starts just after a failed
suspend.

Same Issue. suspend just "locks" the computer. Files attached and

I'm seeing the same problems with an Inspiron E1505. Suspend just stops
either with the screen turned off or with a blank screen and a blinking
cursor. A hard reboot is required in either case. Suspend worked
reasonably reliably on Feisty on this machine. I seem to remember

In private communication, Sean mentioned that it worked in Feisty with the

I forgot to mention that I my issues with suspend on the Inspiron 6000
occur while using both the 8.37and 8.41 fglrx drivers on a Radeon
Mobility X300 card.
If, however, I use the non-proprietary driver, suspend works flawlessly
(so far - I have only tried it a few times).

If I switch to a virtual terminal, stop gdm (thus stopping X), and execute:
$ sudo /etc/acpi/sleep.sh
I can get the system to suspend. Nicely, it also comes back correctly!

I have the same issue with Suspend on an Inspiron 6000. The computer
fails to enter the suspend state and must be manually turned off via the
power button (resume is impossible, as it never actually suspends).

I'm not sure that's the same bug, considering you are actually able to
resume. The suspending process does not even complete here, hard-locking the
system (requiring 5 seconds on the power button to turn off).
