I cannot reproduce this. I used the exact same environment as you (20071010 amd64 RC iso, amd64, vmware) and the install went fine. Can you reproduce this? If so, can you please look in Alt+F4 to see whether there is a meaningful error message? I reproduced it twice before sending my bug and just finished trying a 3rd time after rebooting the host system -- It now works as designed, except for a cosmetic issue (see bug #151532)...
