[Bug 154049] Re: Nvidia driver not working with dual screen

2008-10-05 Thread alex_g
In my case the bug is located in nvidia-glx-177.
I use a Sony 46 inch TV to watch movies in dual view.
After log-in into Ubuntu the right resolution is shown on the TV screen for
just a second.
Then, the background image becomes smaller but I can still move the move across
the whole screen.
But trying to start a movie player (smplayer and vlc tested) leeds to a crash
of some gnome applications.
So I cant play movies on the laptop (vostro 1500 with Geforce 8400) or on the
tv.

I tried using the 173 driver which resulted in a complete crash of the display,
which I had to repair.
Getting back to 177 was quite hard, I had to remove the driver firstr and then
use the console to instal it again

For me this bug is quite critical as I can't watch my movies any more
:-((

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW]
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in nvidia-glx.

I think that the bug should be assigned more to package xserver-xorg-
video-nv
