[Bug 1707178] Re: package winbind 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.9 failed to install/upgrade: problèmes de dépendances - laissé non configuré

2017-09-04 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Your w10 box is probably blocking (correctly) the SMB1 protocol. Try
this:

smbclient -L //H3D3.DOMAIN/ -U -m SMB3

(or SMB2)

>From the manpage:
-m|--max-protocol protocol
This allows the user to select the highest SMB protocol level that
smbclient will use to connect to the server. By default this is set to NT1,
which is
the highest available SMB1 protocol. To connect using SMB2 or SMB3
protocol, use the strings SMB2 or SMB3 respectively. Note that to connect to a
Windows
2012 server with encrypted transport selecting a max-protocol of
SMB3 is required.

mount.cifs has similar options (vers=).

That being said, please file another bug if you suspect there is defect
in the software, but I think it's just a configuration issue. In that
case, you might have better chances by checking the samba users mailing
list.

2017-09-02 Thread Rock Ouimet
Hi Andreas,
Sorry for my late reply. Everything seems to run smoothly now on the
Xubuntu side. No more warnings!

However, W10 (H3D3) shows no sharing files from the Xubuntu screen (Rock),
even though I shared some files on the W10 computer . There must be some
tweaking to do on the W10 computer to make the files shared with Xubuntu I
suppose.

Thanks again for you help, much appreciated,

Rock

2017-08-28 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Hello Rock, sorry for taking so long to look at this bug again.

We seem to be dealing with multiple issues here. This bug report is
about the postinst script of samba packages failing because the service
can't be started. After you fixed /etc/samba/smb.conf with regards to
the invalid "user = share" configuration parameter, does the package
installation proceed without errors? I.e., do these commands finish
correctly:

sudo apt update
sudo apt -f install

And, since this was some time ago, you might also want to try an upgrade
again:

sudo apt dist-upgrade

And at the end, check if the services are running:

sudo systemctl status smbd.service nmbd.service winbind.service

Thanks!

2017-08-11 Thread Rock Ouimet
Hi Andreas,
I tried every options in smb.conf. The Windows10 computer has access to my
shared folder(public), but my Xubuntu 16.04 has no access to the W10 shared
files, even with a given domain and password.

So I am at lost for now.
Thanks to having cared about my little problem.

[Bug 1707178] Re: package winbind 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.9 failed to install/upgrade: problèmes de dépendances - laissé non configuré

2017-08-04 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Thanks for these files.

You have an invalid configuration option in /etc/samba/smb.conf:

andreas@nsn7:~$ testparm ./smb.conf
Load smb config files from ./smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)
WARNING: The "syslog" option is deprecated
WARNING: Ignoring invalid value 'share' for parameter 'security'
Error loading services.

For this version of samba, "security = share" is no longer a valid
setting. Valid values for the "security" parameter are auto, user,
domain or ads.

Please fix the configuration setting and then run:

sudo apt update
sudo apt -f install

That should do it. Please let me know how it goes.

2017-07-31 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

For some reason, the samba daemon smbd failed to start:
jui 20 17:05:29 rock systemd[1]: Starting LSB: start Samba SMB/CIFS daemon .
jui 20 17:05:29 rock smbd[2942]: * Starting SMB/CIFS daemon smbd
jui 20 17:05:29 rock smbd[2942]:...fail!

The provided logs do not have enough information to diagnose the issue.

Could you please attach the following files to this bug:
- /etc/samba/smb.conf
- /var/log/samba/log* (all files that begin with "log" in the /var/log/samba/
directory)

Thanks!
