Unchecking hardware acceleration does not change anything. Extracted the media files, the two .flv files work fine stand alone, but the .mpeg crashes the media player in my OS every time (not just in Impress). Speaking of which if I create a new Impress file and drop in one of the .flv files the new impress file works fine and the video plays fine. If I try to add the .mpeg file, using 6.0.5 than Impress hangs. Also, trying to check the properties of the Billy Elliot.mpeg file crashed gnome 'Files' twice. so, it is looking like the mpeg file is the culprit and the OS support changed. I am also affected by the problem with the flickering video. May be my observation helps someone to find a solution or workfix. I test it with LO 6.3.5.2 / LO 6.4.5 / LO 7.0.0.1 at ubuntu 19.10 with a simple impress document embedded a mp4 movie. Flickering appears in all versions at the full presentation screen. But, if I use the right mouse key in the presentation mode the control window (with Next, Got to Slide, ... menus) appears on the presentation screen and the flickering stops immediately. As long as the control window appears, the movie runs how it should be. Unfortunately the control window is to large for using this as a interim solution. May be, somebody can find a workaround to produce a smaller window with the mouse key, like this control window? Meanwhile I install a new ubuntu 20.04 LTS from scratch. Upgrading to HWE kernel and graphic stacks somewhat relieves the problem. At least now the presentation doesn't show it, but only the info screen. Thanks for the report! Can you try the upstream deb packages (https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/) and tell us whether they suffer from the same problem. If you don't mind trying the snap package too (sudo snap install libreoffice && snap run libreoffice), I'd be interested in knowing whether it's affected.
