On Ubuntu 20.04 I experience similar issue as diagnosed by @prayerholmes
. Selecting on the pop-up headset breaks the audio (but the microphone
works!). After changing on settings->audio the input from `headset
microphone - built-in audio` to `Internal microphone - built-in audio`
and then back to
Update:
I find out that in PulseAudio Panel the settings of input device should be
choose as 'Internal Microphone' rather than 'Headset Microphone' or
'Microphone', and the speakers of my headset can work properly.
My laptop's 1 jack hole connection and headset can work properly on
Windows, both
I've installed Ubuntu Desktop and now I find out the problem's temporary
solve. Please someone can notify the teams that can solve this problem.
In Ubuntu Desktop, when I plug in the headphone(headset actually, it
have speaker and mic and can work properly on mobile phone, one 3.5mm
jack), the pop

No pop-dialogue. When headphone plug-in, it switched to headphone from speakers
automatically. It can be confirmed in PulseAudio Control Panel. In 18.04 it
work without any problem.

Potentially useful info: If you install Ubuntu desktop on Kubuntu 20.04,
audio works as expected when the user logs into ubuntu - but issues on
kubuntu remain if the desktop environment is switched.

My computer's internal sound adapter is Realtek HD Audio actually, and it has
driver pack on dell's website.
It can be identified correctly in windows 10 and have Maxxaudio control center.
