[Bug 1925676] Re: System freeze
OK. It appears Ubuntu 20.04 does have i386 packages. So you can possibly upgrade to it but there is no i386 ISO for new installations. I can't think of anything other than kernel likely to cause this bug. An in fact it looks like even version 4.4.0-209 is quite new so might have caused the problem. You might find a solution in the prior versions: https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/21339796 https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/21204474 https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/21164427 https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/21054019 Or in even a slightly newer kernel: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.19.190/i386/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925676 Title: System freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1925676/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1925676] Re: System freeze
Hi Daniel, No, 4.4.0-209 is the oldest on my machine. As far as Ubuntu 20.04 is concern, I checked it out but there is no version for 32-bit computer like mine. I will probably have to migrate to something like Lubuntu or Xubuntu, it seems. As I wrote in my original bug report, when I reported the bug (April 22), this thing had been going on for a week or two already. Somebody must have change something somewhere between April 10 and 17. A month or two before, I started to use AdBlocker on Youtube. It worked fine for a while and then this bug happened. [Bug 1925676] Re: System freeze
Do you have any older kernels than 4.4.0-209? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925676 Title: System freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1925676/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1925676] Re: System freeze
Also, although 16.04 is officially supported, it is not as well supported as 20.04 which is 4 years newer. I suggest booting 20.04 from USB, testing to see if the same bug occurs and if not then upgrading as soon as is convenient.
Hi Daniel, I did revert to an older version, 4.4.0-209 (from 4.4.0-210) but de bug remains the same. Could it be Firefox? I have seen that a bug has been reported on Audi/Video in the new release of April 19th. But it doesn't seem to be the same, and my bug started earlier. [Bug 1925676] Re: System freeze
In that case, don't install anything. You should still have your older kernels installed, which you can access through the menu by tapping Escape very early on in the boot process.
Thanks Daniel for answering my request. I need some help to choose from de list of kernel available in the link you gave me. Wich one should I choose if I want to revert to the April 10th version (about two weeks before my report). I don't know anything regarding that stuff and I am afraid of doing something wrong. Thanks again.
