Hi Guys, There recently were some issues with the linux-ubuntu-modules package causing systems to hang at boot. The offending patch was reverted: https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 . A newer patch that should resolve the issue that the original patch was trying to fix can be found in bug 212960 . This fix was recently committed to the lum git tree and should be available in the next linux- ubuntu-modules upload. For those of you who are experiencing additional sound or graphics bugs, please open a new report. It is helpful to the development teams if bug reports target one specific issue against a specific set of hardware. Belisarivs, since you are the original bug reporter, care to comment if this is still and issue with the latest updates available. After installing the latest updates my T61 boots now, but starts in low graphics mode and I can't find the nvidia driver in the restricted drivers list. Still booting with 2.6.24-15 image. Well I did the two things suggested here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=744219page=2 Basically first I changed: line 60 in /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jockey/xorg_driver.py from self.xorg_conf = xorgconfig.readConfig(OSLib.inst.xorg_conf_path) to self.xorg_conf = xorgconfig.readConfig(OSLib.inst.xorg_conf_path)[0] and then I ran: sudo depmod -a -q while booted into kernel 2.6.24-16. The same thing is happening to me... I have a newer laptop - a Core 2 Duo Thinkpad T60 w/Atheros WiFi. it goes to about 15% and then just sticks there. If I wait a while I will see some lines of text such as Checking battery state... OK. It will stop at around Loading Manual Drivers... and just stay there. Same thing is happening to me on my T61. It shows the progress bar for a bit, then displays some text lines and it seems to stop at Loading Manual Drivers... There is an update out guys - but it seems to only partially work, for me at least. I am able to boot now into the 16 kernel, but now my Atheros wireless card (ath0) doesn't work. The restricted drivers stay not in use. I have tried disabling, restarting, enabling, then restarting again, but like I said it will not work. The new update I have seen shows other updates, including compiz. Note that before upgrading to Hardy Heron from Gutsy Gibbon sound worked well. The volume is not turned off, on the contrary it seems to be well detected. For me the system boots well but I don't have any sound from my computer.
