We tested Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Beta on a Dell Dimension 9200 here in the
lab and it no longer experiences this issue. It was able to shutdown
successfully without any hang. I'm setting this to Fix Released.

I am testing Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) Alpha 6 on Sony Vaio VGN-Z540C
( The Z series) and I am having a similar problem. The computer hangs on
reboot. I am on Kernel 2.6.27-3-generic.
Which file(s) do you need to continue the bug request.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
Please try the Following:
When the crash occurs, press Alt+SysRq+1 (one, not L) followed by
Alt+SysRq+t. If using a text console, you should see a trace dumped to
the screen. If the system is sufficiently alive, it will also be logged
to /var/log/kern.log and visible in the output from dmesg.
