[Bug 297954] Re: Digital camera not recognized by Gnome, but a USB drive is recognized.

2009-03-28 Thread draco
I've got the same problem on Xubuntu Intrepid 8.10 64 bits, with a Panasonic
Lumix DMC-TZ5.
It also appear as a DMC-FZ10, not detected as a digital photo camera.
An usb stick is mounted when connecting in usb, but the volume is read only
(I can see the message write protect is on in the dmesg log) but the SD Card
in the camera is not in the protected mode.

Hope the bug could be fixed sooner.

2009-02-07 Thread dmoyne
it looks like as the same bug on Intrepid 64 bits :
- camera correctly detected in KDE settings,
- but is not detected as USB volume connected as would correctly be detected a
USB key.
Regards.

2008-11-18 Thread Magnus S
Excellent job. Now we know that the only places your camera is being
wrongly detected as DMC-FZ10 is in lshal and lsusb.

(since i think we have enough information for a developer to start
working on this, i'm marking this bug as confirmed. I am not sure where
to point it though, linux or hal, so i'm letting it stay in linux.)

2008-11-17 Thread Magnus S
Hi, thanks for the attachments. In lshal.txt your camera is detected as
Lumix DMC-FZ10 Camera.

Lets see if we can troubleshoot udev. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUdev
seems to be outdated for Intrepid.
I think you should be able to
* sudo pkill udevd
and start it with debugging
* sudo udevd --debug-trace --debug (and then attach your camera...)

and attach any output you get. Please also attach your /var/log/udev and
/var/log/syslog after you've done that.

[Bug 297954] Re: Digital camera not recognized by Gnome, but a USB drive is recognized.

2008-11-16 Thread Magnus S
Hi,
thanks for the attachments.

In your syslog the camera is detected as MATSHITA DMC-LX2. But there is also
the following lines:
  [31171.929164] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdc] Result: hostbyte=DID_ABORT
driverbyte=DRIVER_OK,SUGGEST_OK
  [31171.929177] end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 15758334
  [31171.929185] Buffer I/O error on device sdc, logical block 15758334

Please attach the resulting files from the following commands:
* uname -a  uname-a.log
* cat /etc/lsb-release  lsb-release.log

Also, in case this is a bug in hal, please follow the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHal and attach your log files to this
report.

Thanks in advance.

not a GNOME issue, it doesn't do the lowering detecting of the camera,
this needs to be reassigned.

[Bug 297954] Re: Digital camera not recognized by Gnome, but a USB drive is recognized.

2008-11-14 Thread Magnus S
Hi, thanks for reporting this bug. We need more information to be able
to fix this.

Now, open up two terminal windows and run the following commands:
* tail -f /var/log/syslog  ~/297954_tail-of-syslog.txt  (in the first
terminal, leave it running)
* tail -f /var/log/dmesg  ~/297954_tail-of-dmesg.txt (in the second terminal,
leave it running)
Now, attach your camera and wait say 30 seconds or so. This will create two
files in your home directory, please attach them to this report.

Also, with your camera plugged in, run the following command:
* lsusb -v  ~/297954_lsusb-v.txt
This will create on more file called 297954_lsusb-v.txt, please attach that on
too.

Thanks in advance.
