I can confirm that simply running: sudo /var/lib/dpkg/info/python-xkit.postinst fixed this problem. I looked into why the module couldn't be found and xkit did not seem to be set up for python 2.6, only 2.5 - this would suggest it is indeed the problem in python-central mentioned above. --
