[Bug 339945] Re: Kubuntu 8.10 - ALC888 no microphone

2010-03-26 Thread Brad Figg
Hi Mirto,

Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 339945

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil
icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

Please let us know your results.

[Bug 339945] Re: Kubuntu 8.10 - ALC888 no microphone

2009-10-02 Thread hottetdf
Seems not to be a problem of the distro. Also, seems not to be an acer
specific prob, although I am also affected (aspire 5738Z, openSuSE 11.1
64-bit). On my system, only the builtin mic is affected, external mic
just works fine.

I read in other forums that this could be more a phonon prob rather than
an alsa specific, but did not find any solution. Any help would be
highly welcome.

[Bug 339945] Re: Kubuntu 8.10 - ALC888 no microphone

2009-05-21 Thread daouric
The problem is also present on acer aspire 6930 with Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04.

It seems that front mic boost and mic boost controllers increase the
signal level.
When testing with Sound Recorder, they amplified the volume of the white noise.
The mic and front mic contollers don't change anything perceptible to the
recordings.
