I had a problem with my computer crashing when switching to full screen
when running compiz. I fixed this by:
* running 'gstreamer-properties' in the terminal
* clicking the video tab
* changing 'Plugin' to 'X Window System (No Xv)'. If that doesn't work, try the
'X Window System

issue with a HD3400. When I've restarted the machine, I get a black
screen like the computer is shutdown so probably as you say, no screens
found.
I've got also 3GB of RAM. What should be the best solution for me? Find

I think you might be looking for answers in the wrong place as I don't think
the fullscreen crash issue you are experiencing is related to this patch. I had
the same issue before I applyed the patch and I had the same issue after I
applied the patch.

There is only one problem - at least on my PC - and that is video
playback. When I tried to resize window with video, computer froze. You
can solve this by setting video output to X11 rather than default in VLC
(if you use VLC)...

Can confirm this on my DELL Studio 15 with ATI Mobility Radeon 3450 HD.
What runs unusably slow with compiz since I upgraded to 9.04:
- restoring windows, maximizing windows, and unmaximizing windows, opening
application menus (1-3 freeze)
- switching from metacity to compiz using compiz

people here talking about the radeon driver, or about fglrx?

I've a Thinkpad T42. Everything was perfect with Intrepid, but now that
I've upgraded to Jaunty, almost everything (including the startup etc)
seems to be slower.
But the main problem is with maximizing/minimizing/starting windows, as
everyone said.. The maximizing/minimizing
I had the same issue with my Thinkpad T41 which has a Radeon Mobility
9000. When i plugged out the second/external monitor, everything worked
fine (glxgears 835 instead of 88 fps) again. But I have the resolution
and the colordepth hardcoded in my xorg.conf - didn't try without it...

Confirmed here as well. AMD64 with HD3600 (vendor: 1002 device: 9596).
Visual effects were enabled at normal after fresh install with fglrx
installed via restricted drivers GUI. Rebooted just in case, visual
effects still running. Slow window restore/maximize/unmaximize.

Noticed a few times that sometimes the window borders etc did not load
when unminimising a window - this is probably unrelated as I had been
playing with the metacity theme, but what is interesting is that when
this happened unminimizing the window happened without lag - just
without the borders.
I have also noticed that Gnome-do shows some lag v.s. my previous Hardy
install. It still has a little bit of lag even without compiz, but with
compiz it is almost unbearable (1 ~ 2 seconds), at least for me. So, my
guess is it is a combo of the new Xorg and a lack of driver support.

I had the same problem like Joseph with Jaunty on my ThinkPad T42 And
this made me to go back to Intrepid. I upgraded to jaunty final release
and the problem still persist. any progres to resolve this???

And in Dell Studio 1537 with ATI HD 3400.
Also resizing windows is sub-par. Getting CPU peaks from maximising a terminal..
This is with vanilla everything + FGLRX from jockey.
