Driving me nuts... My kids use this ubuntu 9.04 computer (up-to-date as
of this post) and they each have a separate account. Being kids they
tend to use switch user rather than logout. This is causing regular
problems with external devices - specifically USB key
Same problem here on Ubuntu 9.10.
Also happens with CDs.

Thanks for the bug report. I explain a possible workaround that will
avoid your kids call you every time. Add an entry to /etc/fstab for the
usb key, so that it will be mounted with the option you want.
I.E.
UUID=XYZ /media/usbkey vfat
