Hi :) Please try the new beta release of Ubuntu 10.04 which is still in testing. Does the problem occur in 10.04 beta? http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta1 If possible could you also try the Ubuntu Netbook Remix to see if that works on your system too. Right now is the best time to try installing as a dual/multi-boot or as a LiveCd in order to let people know if 10.04 has any problems working on your system. For us, Alpha 6 does NOT work. We tried karmic-desktop-i386.iso (Both
Ubuntu and Xubuntu) and they all failed. All downloads had correct
md5sum. We tried this on 5 different physical boxes with different CDs
and CD-RWs media and one virtual machine (using the image, NOT a real
medium). All these boxes run different Ubuntu flavours without probs.
In most combinations we see

Hey Gerd, thanks for confirm, i know im not going crazy trying to figure why my wont load also, have you tried loading previous alpha4 and see if it works? I downloaded the Ubuntu 9.10 Alfa 6 ISO today and was pleased to note that the Live CD works both on my Lap top PC. 'siucdude' I suggest you try downloading karmic alpha 6 again. I say this because I had a 'corrupted' download despite doing a MD Sum check which did not catch this error. Indian Art, I think there is a problem with the software and i am working on where its located. 1st. i did download the alpha6 and it did not work on the 5 computers i tried at work. but i took the same cd home and tried it on my newer computer and guess what it works so its not md sum or anything with bad cd. 2nd. wubi did not want to load on my older computers as giving me a error. 3rd i just downloaded the alpha4 and it works on my older computers. So there was a change in loading the cd from alpha 4 to alpha5 that effects older computers. I know its a alpha but i hope it does not get left out for the final production as alot of older computers will not be able to work. Thanks and good luck mate. i just downloaded karmic alpha 6 today to test and i get the same error, on 5 different computers with different motherboards and cpus. after the choose language i can't choose any menu option except the boot from original hd. I am downloading other alpha and the alternative cd but i can't figure out why this is not working. Hi this was not a real bug. I felt that I had downloaded the entire ISO, because thje K3B MD sum did not show an error. But when I right clicked 'properties' I noticed this file was around 300 MB instead of around 700 MB. I downloaded it again and Live CD Karmic Alpha-5 works fine on my ACER 5920 except for the bluetooth coming on unnecessarily . (I have already reported this bug elsewhere) My Desktop starts in a 800*600 resolution. A shame for a 19 inch monitor. Will toubleshoot later. Will report this if trouble-shooting does not help. I tried the download as given in http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/alpha-5/ and since then haven't been able to complete any downloads for other things too. Previously it was fine but now i get to nearly complete a download and then suddenly my wired unlimited broadband suddenly gets disconnected for no readily apparent reason. Reconnecting is easy but it does mean i can't download at the moment. Good luck with this one!
