I don't think this is a duplicate bug, in #348440 system switches to a
text console and then back to usplash.
The problem here is that we have a message usplash killed on the
console and so usplash never

I have this bug and I also have an ATI, in PCs with nVidias which I have
seen it works well.

I'm pretty sure it's a duplicate of bug #348440, since every once in a
while, the stars will align and I do get usplash on shutdown. This looks
like a race condition.

It happens to me too, I just wanted to report a bug. The difference is
that I have an ati video card, not nvidia.
