[Bug 497107] Re: package flashplugin-installer 10.0.32.18ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Hi edwin, sorry for the delay. If your system hard locks during the download (can't be interrupted with ctrl-c, caps lock led ) then it's probably a problem with your hardware or a kernel driver. I'm affecting this report to linux. Run the following command from a terminal window (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach important system information to the bug report. $ ubuntu-bug -p linux -u 497107 Provide as much information as possible in the bug description. Be sure to note what hardware/device is being used. Thanks. ** Package changed: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- system hard locks during packages download https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497107 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hey, Yes, the text above is all there is. I run the update again. I had to take some pics, because of the freeze. I also have to say, it doesn't always freeze at the same time/place/moment. Could it have something to do with the internetconnection? It does all the other things, but when it is downloading, it freezes. OK. I tried the update again. The system hung. :/ The last entry in the log file is from Dec, 22th . We have no luck, the log was probably not updated because of the freeze. When you run 'sudo apt-get upgrade' and when it hangs what is the output on the terminal ? If you can't copy/paste because the system is frozen, can you take a picture of the screen ? Are the lines pasted above all you see ? -- package flashplugin-installer 10.0.32.18ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497107 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry for the delay. /var/log/apt/term.log is readable by the superuser only. do the following: sudo cp /var/log/apt/term.log /tmp/ sudo chmod og+r /tmp/term.log and attach the file /tmp/term.log Be sure to reproduce the problem before providing the file. I guess we've fixed the problem with flashplugin. Now, for the remaining issue, could you please attach the file /var/log/apt/term.log and the output of sudo apt-get upgrade to this report in order to see where the upgrade hangs ? -- package flashplugin-installer 10.0.32.18ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497107 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 497107] Re: package flashplugin-installer 10.0.32.18ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Hello, Thank you for your help. I did all the sudo's. All went well. I started the update manager. I pressed Install Updates. During the download of these updates, the system hangs every time (this takes 10 seconds at most). It happens every time, I tried 3 times in total. The only thing I can do then, is a hard-reset. Any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/flashplugin-installer.{postinst,prerm,postrm} sudo apt-get remove --purge flashplugin-installer sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get update Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue. If so please set the bug's status to Invalid.
