I can reproduce this bug already without CUPS, by opening your PDF file,
printing it into a PDF file (evince re-renders the file instead of
simply passing it through, blowing it up from 97K to 1300K) and then

Please use Acrobat Reader, Okular, or any other PDF viewer instead of
evince for the time being. Printing PDF files directly to CUPS (lpr
file.pdf) should also work.
