Hi Boris65, Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p alsa-base 499259 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. I ran the alsa mixer, muted the external and put all the soundchannels up to max, green. Still no sound. A slight difference between our soundboards perhaps? I don't have the CH/CAM I have the CA/ICH3? Hi, I was experiencing the same problem with 9.10 on my Thinkpad T30. I did the following (propably what Daniel T Chen also suggested): - ran alsamixer - scrolled right to external - deactivated it (pressing the m) key Now sound output works just fine! Also, the volume up/down buttons started to work. Works both for Pulse Audio and the Intel ICH3 stuff here.
