Final post due to fix!
I've just tried ubuntu maverick and it no longers has this problem. I suppose
new kernel, new opensource radeon drivers, new xorg fix the problem and my pv
shuts down properly.

Yesterday I gave a try on Fedora 13, and guess! The same problem! I
suppose though, that I should blame the ATI opensource driver for that
problem. Can anyone help me send a bug report to the developers?

Following these instructions:

even if i don' t install the proprietary driver, my laptop shuts down

No! That bug is reffered to karmic. I don't have any problem in karmic. I am
having it on lucid from alpha2 to rc.
Plus I have tried the terminal way (alt+F2/3/4/5/6): sudo shutdown -P now, sudo
shutdown -h now, sudo /etc/rc0.d/S90halt stop and it reboots again, without
having ANY error
I think I have just found another clue:
After installing the fglrx (ATI proprietary driver) my laptop shuts down
properly. Both from graphical and terminal!
Can anybody tell something from that?

First of all thanks for the immediate response and the time you spend on my
problem.
It is possible. It reboots even if I run in terminal sudo /etc/rc0.d/S90halt
stop.
But since I am a new user I don't understand what that bug's log say. So i
uploaded them if someone that knows could spend some
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
