I tried booting from the same 10.04 CD that I used to install. In live
mode it detects my audio just fine. I am now completely confused.

Well at this point, I think I'll close the bug, and we can leave it at
that for the moment. If you have any problems, feel free to re-open the

One more thing I'd like you to do actually, just to be 100% sure of
things. Could you please remove the model parameter you made in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, reboot, and attach your dmesg output to
this bug.
Thanks.

As requested:
1. removed options line from alsa-base.conf file
2. rebooted
3. uploading dmesg output
After doing all that, for some reason my sound is still working. Is
something caching the hardware information? Do I need to do something
else to get back to the non-working state?
**
Possibly. In a terminal, run sudo depmod -a and then reboot. If you
still have sound, then I've got no idea. :)

I tried wiping out the ~/.pulse directory but that didn't have any
effect.

properly, and somethign other than the model argument addition made
things work...
I am coming to this conclusion because the driver does know about your
Did you file this bug with the model= addition added to /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf?
I will look into getting this hardware detected properly.
