In Ubuntu, pm-utils is responsible for getting the system into a state
where it can be suspended or hibernated, and handling any cleanup after
resume. So it definitely has to be installed on your system for

The problem didn't resolve once stable 10.10 came out. It was only
resolved by installing pm-utils. I had posted a quick review of my beta
experience on reddit and another user reported the same issue and
installing pm-utils also fixed his problem. Not sure if pm-utils was
previously
