Jarod just submitted a patch that was merged into Maruo's staging tree
for 2.6.37-rc1. It should fix this issue:

kernel oops due to lirc using mythbuntu
OK, so I narrowed this down to my settings for ACPI USB power in the
bios.. I had it set for wake on keyboard/mouse/usb (all are usb).
These settings all worked fine with 2.6.32 and 33..
My entire USB susbsystem was dieing when this happened. The USB
disconnect was in fact causing the ir_core
Nevermind - it just happened again. Where should I move this bug to and
what should I file it under. My entire USB subsystem is dead when this
happens. I cannot find anything relevant in launchpad.

This is going to sound a bit odd, but it seems to happen at least once a
day, however - if I load the kvm and kvm_amd modules on my system, it
causes the issue to crop up within 5-30 minutes.
I have not been able to track down a definite cause though. It happens
with no IR being pressed from the

I think that the duplicate may be wrong as 624701 is marked as fixed but
I have upgraded to the 'fixed' version of the kernel an I still get the
kernel oops.

Hi Mario,
From kern.log you can see the #32, then the #33 kernel:
Sep 20 03:29:00 mythtv-desktop kernel: [23704.548916] Pid: 3916, comm:
lirc Tainted: P 2.6.35-22-generic #32-Ubuntu 945P-S3 /

Douglas:
Based on the above, i'm suspecting that a patch that was just added to
the Maverick kernel will fix this:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-
maverick.git;a=commit;h=e9eb3acf4c1abee1ea07f8370462a3b3a083cad8
It's in kernel 2.6.35-22.33 which just finished publishing late last
I have upgrade to the newer kernel:
uname -a
Linux mythtv-desktop 2.6.35-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19
20:32:27 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
No oops this time, I will keep watching over the next few days
Thanks!!
Cheers
Douglas

Are you absolutely sure this was 2.6.35-22.33 not 2.6.35-22.32?

Can you please file separate bugs for the misconfigured NVIDIA graphics

Is this problem reproducible and happens every boot?
Can you please run apport-collect 642517 from that machine, and it
will automatically
I have tried to run the command several times, I answer the questions,
and a dialog with a progress maker that shows something is happening,
top shows 1% CPU utilization (probably just the dialog box progress
marker) and it stays like this for hours.
I have attached a picture of the apport log

Hi Douglas:
What exactly were you doing when this oops occurred? Was it during
boot, during unplug, shutdown etc? Is it reproducible using the latest
kernel in the archive (after you do all your updates)?
