[Bug 660972] Re: eject does not unmount cdrom or dvdrom if ejecting by the hardware button
Florian Pichon, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 890592 CD drive eject button does not work ** No longer affects: eject (Ubuntu) ** Package changed: udev (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660972 Title: eject does not unmount cdrom or dvdrom if ejecting by the hardware button To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/660972/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 660972] Re: eject does not unmount cdrom or dvdrom if ejecting by the hardware button
Problem here as well, but sporadic. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not. Here is one other bug I think is related to this. It happened today: 1. Insert CD ROM (In my case external USB HDD was mounted at the same time) 2. Do some copying from CD to internal HDD 3. Use umount to unmount CD ROM. I also have this problem in 11.10. [Bug 660972] Re: eject does not unmount cdrom or dvdrom if ejecting by the hardware button
I have this problem in Ubuntu 11.10 and I have had it since Ubuntu 10.04 at least. dmesg tells me nothing when ejecting and nothing when I put in another disc. It just shows the old contents until I do a software eject (i.e. by clicking the eject button in nautilus). hdparm -I /dev/sr0: /dev/sr0: ATAPI CD-ROM, with removable media Model Number: TSSTcorpCD/DVDW SH-S183A Serial Number: Firmware Revision: SB03 Standards: Likely used CD-ROM ATAPI-1 Configuration: DRQ response: 50us. [Bug 660972] Re: eject does not unmount cdrom or dvdrom if ejecting by the hardware button
I have the same problem on a Dell Precision M4500. It seems to be caused by the fact that no udev events are triggered if the DVD is ejected with the button when the drive is mounted. Unmounting the DVD after it has been ejected triggers the event. In the same way, just unmonting without ejecting the CD does nothing, but ejecting after unmounting triggers an event. I think this problem is for the udev package. It should also be the same as bugs #588783 and #625495. -- eject does not unmount cdrom or dvdrom if ejecting by the hardware button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660972 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
