Why should I sponsor this version, when you are working on getting the
new upstream release packaged (bug #206862)? I would like to sponsor the
new upstream release instead.

The patch for this revision comes from two files in the new upstream
version (chips.h and chips.c) http://freshmeat.net/projects/xsensors/
and the author's patch for coretemp support,
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-motu/2008-September/004711.html

instead of the binary package.

@shankao,
Did you apply the patch that adds coretemp support before building the
package? It's included in my i386 .deb in comment #14, or you can find
it at the bottom of Bug #206862. I am also using coretemp and the new
xsensors works just fine.

You can use sensors-applet. I guess xsensors should be removed from repository
due to its current state.

I built an i386 package for xsensors 0.60. Can you guys test it out? Be
sure to run sesnsors-detect first.
If xsensors still malfunctions, then I think we should remove it, else
we should upgrade it - see Bug #206862
** Attachment added: xsensors_0.60-1ubuntu4_i386.deb
Same thing for the 0.60 version under lucid following Nanley suggestion. I get
a tiny program window that, when resized, shows empty contents.
I ran sensors-detect before running the program as indicated.
IMHO, this is a non working program in the repositories. So, either
someone fixes and
great xsensors works for me in karmic.never seen such working xsensors
before.it's great to see it working.great job!!

Did sensors-detect recommend any modules to load? And if so, did xsensors still
display nothing after you loaded the modules?
Thanks.

Do NOT remove from repositories, works fine for me under Karmic 32 bit
version. The program is displayed/listed as Xsensors 0.50.
Do you have ALL Ubuntu updates applied to your Karmic installation ?

xsensors displays nothing and then crashes when closed.
I think he meant (or at least I do) that 'sensors' command displays
correct info, like:
$ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +41.5°C (crit = +107.0°C)
coretemp-isa-
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +35.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Oh, and I installed 64-bit Karmic from scratch (I did not update from
Jaunty etc.).

What do you mean when you say sensors command works perfectly ?
Are you referring to the sensors-detect command ? And if so, are you
rebooting computer subsequent to issuing the sensors-detect command
(that is after it has completed it's detection of sensors) and are you

xsensors starts tiny and is blank when expanded. This was the case for me

I can not speak for any of the previous releases but for me the Xsensor
program has finally been fixed so that it works perfectly under Jaunty.
However, let me say that if you got to Jaunty via an upgrade from a
previous version of Ubuntu (as opposed to installing Jaunty from
scratch), then it is
Still not working in last Jaunty packaged version (xsensors 0.50). Same

I can reproduce this problem in Intrepid Beta (though not the crashing
part). Xsensors displays nothing. Upgrading to the newest upstream

I am now seeing different behaviour in Gutsy - the box is displayed at
the correct size, and has a number of sensors in it. If I resize the
window the application stays running and does not crash. I think this
defect has been fixed, and that Prajna should try it again now in Gutsy.

I am seeing exactly the same behaviour in xsensors 0.46 (xsensors
0.46-1ubuntu1).
I have lm-sensors installed on the Edgy system, and successfully ran
sensors-detect, inserted the appropriate modules, and then ran sensors. Sensor
on the command line shows coherent and reasonable data.
