[Bug 74036] Re: Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are currently reviewing bug reports regarding older kernel versions. After review we feel this bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and are setting this bug's status to Won't Fix. For more information regarding stable release updates, please refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . However, now that the 7.10, codename Gutsy Gibbon, release of Ubuntu is out, we were wondering if you can still reproduce this issue. Could you please download and try the new version of Ubuntu from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download and report back your results? If the issue is still present in the new release, please attach the output from the following commands: * uname -a uname-a.log * cat /proc/version_signature version.log * after a fresh boot execute - dmesg dmesg.log * sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log Please be sure to attach each file as a separate attachment. For more information regarding the kernel team bug policy, please refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . I have subscribed to the bug report and if you do recreate the bug please set the bug's status to Incomplete so we can proceed with the triaging process. Thanks again and we appreciate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: kernel-oops ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix -- Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Okay, problem does not exist on my Desktop (Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 instead of Kubuntu). I've been checking, and Hal is not picking up USB device disconnects properly on the Laptop. When I disconnect my Sansa, the Hal Device manager shows it as still being plugged in. -- Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 74036] Re: Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage
Okay, I didn't mention, I'm using Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy with Linux Kernel 2.6.17-11 Generic (standard 32-bit x86) on an Acer Aspire AS5002WLMi laptop. The media player I'm using is a Sandisk Sansa e250 (I bought this after borowing and testing several MP3 players from freinds). As I'm using KDE instead of Gnome, I don't have gvm.log files. I did the capturing twice in hopes that we cn all see what happens on the second connection vs the firt connection that works. I'll begin with the initial connection... ** Attachment added: Inital udev.log http://librarian.launchpad.net/7260001/udev-inital_connect.log -- Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 74036] Re: Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage
As said, it works the first time it's plugged in. If (after disconnecting it that first time) I re-start X it will work as the original connection (and that is a repeated cycle). The other option that works well is to open a terminal and mount it manually every time I subsequently plug in the MP3 Player (that's a bit annoying, but faster then restarting X all the time). I don't have problems like this with flash memory sticks, or problems with nearly any other USB device. Well, the other problematic USB device I have is a Kodak Z7590 reported under bug 105232; but I do not believe this problem is related to that one. -- Oops in scsi_mod and usbstorage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
