is very fast.

Now that's a head scratcher. It almost seems like a slightly different
problem. I have to think about it for a bit.

I changed the bug topic description to better reflect the issue we're
discussing here. The initial topic no ringtone can be ignored. Thanks.
** Description changed:
- There is no ringtone in Skype for me, all other sounds and
- notifications, as well as voice chat, work perfectly. Since I use a
I also notice that in order to have a phone conversation via Skype for
people to understand me I *have* to have the Sound Setting Input tab
open... Weird.

Now you mention it same here. I had it minimised in the dock, however if
I shut it down it reverts to being all broken.

Indeed, the issue persists. Callers are unable to understand me and hear
themselves quite profoundly while prior to this bug I was able to use my
laptop with Skype just fine, without having to resort to a headset and
tweaked input settings and without people hearing themselves on the
other end.
All. The update didn't seem to fix the problem. The good news is I have found a
work around for my garbled input (at least for my system)
Go into Skype 'Options' 'Sound Devices' and deselect 'Allow Skype to
automatically adjust my mixer levels'.
Next go to the 'Sound Settings' and click on the
After recent update mic stop working correctly in Skype. On a test call
its working but the sound stutters badly making it unusable.
A couple of Skype logs are attached for what its worth.

This is due to a libpulse change in version reporting that has been resolved
upstream.

I am with Garry; I have similar reception errors.
The only workaround that somewhat improves the mic quality is to have
the sound settings open and and move the mic slider up manually. I also
noticed that the sound indicator is gone from the panel as of today, but
previously the sound indicator
* with reception errors I mean the feedback that I've been getting from
people that called on Skype.

I suggest you check your skype settings. So far as I know, skype allows
you to choose what audio device you want to hear your incoming call
sound from. It seems that it is not set to an output you are using, or
its not set at all.
** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
Status: New = Incomplete
I think I pretty much tried all available settings, including the
recommendations found here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1521958. So far, none of this
works for me.
