Great! I don't have permission to do a backport at Ubuntu, please file a new
bug for that or - even better - find someone who can backport it to 12.04.
The problem is that the whole 2.1 version would have to be backported, as the
solution for this issue apparently is a combination of many
nice mermory leak. it was using 2.6 gb and hanging

this might have been fixed already.
Please wait some time for Ubuntu to sync Debian changes or try the
projectM packages from Debian Unstable to see if this issue is still
happening. (projectM 2.1.0)

What dou you mean? ;-) ProjectM tries to make presets look as much as
the original DX

I had the projectm-pulseaudio and the projectm-pulseaudio-dbg (ver.12)
installed when producing the bt above.
So many more patterns in the svn... wow.

This still looks weird... On your SVN snapshot, can you please update
it and then completely remove your build direktory and create it
again? Or are you doing an in-tree build?
I added some patches to trunk which should fix at least the Qt
warning. (and maybe display more information)

svn compiled without glewey problems,
And... so far after two hours of operation no crashes or any weirdness.
Let me know if theres more you want tested now or in the future.

This is extremely strange - I don't apply any patches to the Debian version
which could cause this error, and SVN works...
Do you really have the debug symbols installed? Because your GDB backtrace does
not contain the expected information... (no symbols available for
libprojectM...)
Well, at
revision 12 from sid is still crashing with:
Qt has caught an exception thrown from an event handler. Throwing
exceptions from an event handler is not supported in Qt. You must
reimplement QApplication::notify() and catch all exceptions there.
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'int'
Hmm... Please install the debug package (projectm-dbg), run the tool in GDB and
then when it crashes make a full backtrace. (command bt full in gdb) and
attach it here!
Do you get this problem with the newest SVN snapshot too? (If yes it might be
possible that I broke something...)

First time running it didnt crash in the usual sense, just hung
indefinetly. thankefully the system remained useable:

I had this issue as well, but it seems to not occur after downloading
the svn version and building myself. It (projectM-pulseaudio) has played
for quite some time now without crashing.

Yes, the SVN version has a patch for this, which I will backport to
projectM asap. Sorry, I forgot to mention this on this bug here :P

Well, I can take a look at this as soon as I have time.
The problem with projectM crashes is that they don't occur on every system, and
if I make a change on the renderer which fixes an issue on one system
configuration, it sometimes creates one on other systems.
But this one looks PulseAudio
