install did not error.

@broder: take over all you want - I mostly agree with you and I don't
think I have anything else to offer.
I agree squid-deb-proxy is at fault.
I am not sure I agree that installing it should interfere with the
install process.
for instance, if the installer uses dhcp, but I configure the
seems to be caused by adding this package:
d-i pkgsel/include string squid-deb-proxy-client
I got to here:

but can't figure out what gets run when I install squid-deb-

I believe that this is a bug in squid-deb-proxy, which does not
correctly handle either when Avahi isn't functioning or when there is no
proxy advertising _apt-proxy._tcp. In both of those cases,
