I managed to get it to work.
I decided I'd try to uninstall LibreOffice and reinstall it again.

Using a clean-install of 12.04, the only extension installed is Script
provider for Python 3.3.0.

Did you tried open the file attached on Comment #1?
As you can see, other user has the same problem (Comment #2).

Same problem here:
documents created with the previous release of LibreOffice (Ubuntu 11.10) can't
be opened in LibreOffice 3.5 (Ubuntu 12.04).
They still open fine with LibreOffice 3.5 for Windows (portable
edition).
